This is the story of an event in a friend of mine's life that I want to share. I am proud to have known the co pilot of this adventure John W. Cook Sr., and to have had my formative years growing up between his house, and mine. His oldest son, and I became friends just after they moved from Las Vegas after this event in 1959.

Thanks for posting this. I enjoyed reading that article. How fun you knew the copilot and were friends with his son! Major personal significance for you.

Heck that is nothing!
I was stuck on a flight to Miami and the airplane never left the runway after pulling away from the gate. Those airline meals start tasting delicious after a few months....

A 10-hour flight is long enough in an airplane seat to get my spine screaming at me for relief. It’s still aching from a flight that landed on Friday evening.

I can’t imagine what Mr. Cook must have felt.

Great read, thanks. It brought back some memories because around that same time Chuck Banfe the father of a class mate of mine was making a solo flight around the world and we were all tracking his hops and listening for reports on our little am radios.
