VANCOUVER — As the famous Village People song declares, “Every man wants to be a macho macho man / To have the kind of body, always in demand.” But are “macho macho” mindsets becoming a thing of the past? A new study finds that male millennials are drifting away from stereotypical masculine values.

The research, led by the University of British Columbia, showed that younger men tend to value selflessness, social engagement, and health over traditional male ideals like physical strength and autonomy.

It is impossible to get rid of something you don’t have. If they had any masculinity, they would not be ditching it.

When we teach our youth to hate America and that it's bad to be a masculine man, then who will step up and defend that country when we are attacked?

The man was prescient. I should re-read That Hideous Strength, but I’m afraid I’d find that too much of it has come true.

I help lead a Trail life USA troop. One of our key themes is Let Boys Be Boys.

In September, we had a recruiting meeting. In my power point presentation, I had a picture of one of our young men, 35’ in the air harnessed to a rope and searching for a toe hold on a climbing wall. I also had a photo of a five year old boy with a big smile on his face holding a BB gun after firing his first shot.

Next to it was a picture of Pajama boy.

The text was something like “Your choice. Who do you want your son to be?”

We had stellar growth.

A couple years ago, we popped a tire in a parking lot. We went about our business intending to change it when we got back to the car.

As I was jacking up the car, the lug wrench broke. Since we were in a small town with no auto parts shop, I had to swallow my pride and call road service. I then started to get the spare off the rack below the minivan and discovered our spare tire was missing.

Don’t know if it was stolen, fell off or what. Had a friend come get us and fixed it the next day.

Another bunch of awful commercials are the ones from Progressive Car Insurance.

The Progressive Insurance commercials are also really bad.

The cop who took my report was pretty funny. He dropped me off at a McDonalds. People were watching as he let me out of the back seat. He said, “let’s give them a show. When I open the door, run.”

Please go back and read Jacknhoo's response for a better read on it. Yours would fit to the older generation, not to the Millennial version.

Have you SEEN what is currently slithering around on the collegial properties of this country pretending to be male? Pretending to be critical thinkers? Pretending to be ready to enter the real world? Read Jacknhoo's list and it merges with reality. PLEASE do not merge the millennial with the "warrior." That is an insult to the REAL warriors who've died and been wounded on our battlefields.
