LOL.
Nothing nutty, but that sounds a bit personal.
I grew up with the Beatles and have the first run “Parlaphone” pressings of their UK albums, 2 “Blue Box” collections (UK & Japan). Playing back on VERY high-end turntable/MC Cartridge/Phono and complete audio system.
I have the 2009 Hi-Rez 24-bit Remasters of their entire UK catalogue.
I also have the 2017 and 2018 Hi-Rez 24-bit/96khz Remix/Remasters of “Pepper” and “White” albums.
That said...
There is a LOT to be said for vinyl; however there are compromises - especially on the inner tracks where dynamics and bass are reduced/compressed.
Analog tape is a totally different ballgame. As an entrepreneur in the High End Audio industry, I partnered with a highly acclaimed mastering engineer based in LA and he was kind enough to include my business website on the album credits. I’ve visited him numerous times and heard master tapes - easily the finest reproduced sound I’ve ever heard. He gave me an acetate of a Doobie Bros album he was remastering, closest sound to the master tapes and faaaaaar better than a vinyl LP.
In the last 5 years, ADC and DAC designs have become soooo much better. In reality, the 24-bit/192/352 digital files are light years beyond a CD’s 16-bit/44khz resolution.
Re: George Martin, I tend to believe he was referring to analog tapes he was accustomed to hearing in the studio. I also think, in today’s super advanced digital technology he would embrace Giles and his projects with enthusiasm.
Personally, I’m blessed to have some incredible high end equipment including vinyl playback and enjoy listening to my LP collections...just as enjoy listening to my digital sources - from CDs to HiRez digital files.
Indeed. The whole was greater than the sum of the parts. Lennon was too serious (Imagine) and Yoko Ono drove him off the deep end. McCartney was too light - fluffy? Some Wings stuff was good but it never approached the Beatles at their best. Sgt Pepper's and The White Album were landmark achievements.
My wife and I were a couple of 19 y/o kids who just moved from Ohio to an apt in Hollywood. One Sat afternoon I was listening to KHJ as they were playing this new, unreleased album. The guest DJ was explaining what was happening in the studio at the time or what the song was about.
The guest DJ? George Harrison
The album? The White Album
A week later I wandered into Tower Records on Sunset and bought the album.

Totally heavy.
In the US, Capitol reduced their versions to 12 tracks and was able to get extra albums by their repackaging.
"Pepper" was the first album that the UK and US versions were the same.

Seems like................yesterday
That is a great link to the Washington Coliseum concert! Never saw that particular video before, with the band spending several minutes adjusting their equipment before playing with all those screaming fans. Ringo looked totally befuddled for a while as they tried to get his drum set in proper order!
Ringo's platform looked a little shaky at times there, and they obviously could have used some better equipment managers there (especially for those mics!), but it was still great to see that historic concert.
Thanks for the memory! That's a beautiful tune. But, beware of "There hasn't been good music since I was 25!" disease. He's produced some absolutely brilliant stuff that we old timers don't notice. Alas, like his 1st solo, then he crams on a bunch of filler.
Can you imagine being in your late 20s & being stuck in a room with your teen buddies being forced to put out something creative? You'd be @ each other's throats! And I'm not even gonna' mention the Yoko factor ;)
We're lucky they produced what they did.
