Some people like the "new car" smell, but apparently a lot of consumers in China hate it. According to the 2018 China Initial Quality Study by J.D. Power, upwards of 10 percent of Chinese drivers complained about the odor. Ford is seeking a patent for a technique that gets rid of the smell after a vehicle is purchased. According to Ford's scientists, the smell comes with the release of a chemical compound found in leather, plastic, vinyl and adhesives. Ford describes the method for eliminating the odor as "baking" the car until the smell goes away.

Most want and expect the new car smell. This is dumb.

The reasoning for this is because the Chinese HATE this smell, and their a big market. Second, the snowflakes, at least those who can afford a new car, don't think this is natural and close enough to mother gia.

Take the international dart throwing team to a meet... The car will still have a smell but not of the new-car variety.
Seems to me I read about a perfume outfit test-marketing that scent a couple years ago. The idea was that a woman who smelled like a new car would attract a certain kind of car-loving guy, and he wouldn't know exactly why but he desired her like crazy.
Might have been satire, though.
Make the new cars in China smell like urinals and cigarette butts and 99.9% of them will approve.
Oh but the memory. I read somewhere there is a product for sale for the new car smell.
Then we can pretend.
