Yum, they sound delicious.
I have about 20 to 30 squash in the basement that I grew. Wish I could get them to you because I can’t do much with them with my arms. Even with good arms I feel like I am risking fingers trying to cut them in half!
I’ve read about a method of just roasting them in the oven whole. And then you can peel the skin off easy, cut them in half, and scoop out the seeds. Sounds much safer.
Forgot to add that my little cashmere only got a rock as a headstone. So your grandkids did a much better trubute!
And ‘Hey!” to you too neighbor.
Yeah, went to Kingsport for a big load of supplies to fix up this place when I moved here. I thought the cashier had made a mistake when I got the bill LOL! that was the only time I made a big purchase in 9.9% sales tax Tennessee!
Some great Freepers here from E Tenn.
A home is a better investment there IMO, but I think we get the better weather.
Well, thanks for the conversation.
One last thing. When I moved here there were 3-4 coal trains a day going by. Under Obama that dropped to only 3 or 4 a week. Back up to ahout 3 a day now. Coal jobs support whole extended families up here. We really appreciate Trump.
I take the younger grandkids to the river park to feed birds and ducks. Sometimes the river rats, not really rats, but nutria, ( just as ugly) show up. They are so ugly, but we feed them too. The kids love it.
I bought 2 squash this fall. Then remembered how hard it is to cut them. I made them both at once and froze the extra in ziplocks.
Maybe you could donate those extras to a food pantry?
Or get someone to prepare a few with you and freeze the good stuff.
The scraping out of the seeds isnt so fun either.
I am getting so lazy! Ha ha.
Never heard of those rats. Yeah I figure any animal that’s hungry I feed. Except I don’t want this possum attacking my cats or dog, so he’ll just have to figure out how to make it without cat food. If he doesn’t stay off the deck you’ll have to relocate him and then I’ll worry about him being able to find food and shelter in the winter in a new spot.
How wonderful to have a river with birds and ducks for grandkids. Those are some great memories you are making.
Squash is a lot of work! You are right, sweet potatoes are easier. But squash is easier to grow i think.
But they will last probably until April in my basement. That’s what they did last year. So I’m not willing to give them up yet! My arms better be better by then. Or I’m complaining to somebody!
Might I ask what happened to your poor armies? I missed posts about it.
When my granddaughter, now 17, was just a toddler, the family lived with me for awhile when my SIL was finishing aero mechanics school in Oakland airport. My daughter had to go to work very early, so I got my granddaughter ready and took her to daycare on my way to work.
One morning, I had given her a banana muffin to eat. We were walking towards my car, and she still had it. I asked her, she said she didn’t want anymore, so I said I was going to give it to the birds, and threw it in the hill.
That night, my daughter wS feeding her, and told me it was so strange, because when she tried to get her to eat the green beans, my granddaughter told her to give it to the birds. ROLF
I don’t know, looks like he has an alternative like grass.
Prayers for the little fella.
Thank you NIKK.
These are the peanut clusters, really good.
Poor little guy. Prayers he is ok. If he is in your hands, he is in the best hands.
Today I made my trip to Great Mall - Milpitas. Whole place was jam packed. Long queues to enter any store.
Tommy HF store was closed for poor. Seems like some Chinese Billionaire/Millionaire was doing shopping inside , and kept store close for others. Majority of stuff was overprices and then on discount. No deep discount. Retailers are pretty optimistic. Inside Coach store, one Indian couple bought 2-3 dozens purses, average price $300+. One Chinese woman bought whole shelf. I was shocked to see purchasing power of some.
I walked 10K today inside Mall.
This is real progress. https://t.co/Sy7PcDHsPE— The TRUMP PAGE (@MichaelDelauzon) November 24, 2018
