No One Cares About You -- And That's Great

You’re not the center of the universe. In fact, no one really cares about you. It’s harsh, but true. Sure, you have family and a few great friends. They will take particular interest in various parts of your life, helping you when needed. But they don’t care about you nearly as much as you care about yourself. Ultimately, you’re not top of mind to anyone but yourself. When properly understood, this is incredibly freeing and valuable.

Short and sweet. Good advice.

God, closer to your real self than the marrow of your bones, loves you far more than you love yourself. His voice is like a burning furnace.

The punk band Fear had a wonderful song “I don’t care about you” — a very in-your-face punk song featuring repeated use of a well-known two word phrase which I won’t type here.

For sure. Anyone who has spent time in sales also figures this out quickly. It is freeing as the author suggests.

I was laid-off during the recession in the early 90’s. It taught me some valuable lessons.

I’ve been through some rough patches as well, it taught me to have a side business in addition to a full time gig, best decision I’ve ever made.

I took a 25% cut in pay to get the next job, but was back up to my old salary in about a year. I figured out living pay check to pay check wasn’t a good idea.

And if you want the wind of change to blow about you and you're the only other person to know, don't tell me....

".... I'm just a singer in a Rock n' Roll Band!..."

One of my favorites by the Moody Blues.

I graduated high school in 1966, the same year the Moodies started their band.

I have followed them faithfully for 50+ years. Saw them live in concert for the first time two years ago in Las Vegas on their 50th anniversary tour.

Best rock n' roll band ever, despite only getting the nod for the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame this year.

They are one of the few, if only, rock n' roll band where you can understand the lyrics to the songs. It's not a bunch of screeching and screaming like other bands.

I have a greatest hits CD in my truck's player. It won't eject.

So for the past decade, it's all I have ever listened to in the car.

I know the words to every song and sing them at the top of my lungs when traveling.

My all-time favorite band. Thanks for making my day.

You would worry less about what others think of you if you only realized how little they do.
