....Counties that havent voted for a Democrat in decades turned out for Beto ORourke in his unsuccessful bid to unseat U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, and he picked up enough support in ruby red Republican counties to force Cruz into single-digit wins. ... Tuesday night's results suggest that the Republican firewall in the suburbs could be cracking....

My county has been controlled by Dems since it was established in 1885. There was no local government from 1836 until then.
This election is the first where all the ballots were won by Republicans. (excluding 2 that were unopposed Dems.)
Beto got almost NO votes.
I’ve been a Republican since my wife and I married. Right after we graduated from college. We’ve been married 47 years. We were away from my place of birth for 25 years, until 1995 when we moved back.
I don’t know about the wising up part, either.
I’ve been waiting since the 90’s for it and it just isn’t happening.
Hispanic immigration will do what no foreign military could ever do - end the USA.
There are lots of great Hispanic people, but collectively they are poison. Every state with enough of them dies politically.
Promise moochers all kinds of freebies, and theyll turn out to vote for you. The good old Texas taxpayers will cough up the taxes to pay for all the goodies, right?
I’d rather you wrote Illegal Hispanic immigration at the start of your reply.
My LEGAL Hispanic (and Asian) friends are some of the best people there are. INS does a good job of vetting new citizens. It’s the scalawags that sneak in who cause the decay.

Thanks....needed to hear some good news, from a TX county!!
What part of TX? North, South? East?
You hit it right on the head. The Dem cancer in Calif is spreading throughout the country, AZ, NV, NM and now even Tx. Those a-holes move away from high taxes and stifling government which they have voted for only to again vote the same way at their new place. Lived in AZ for a while and had new neighbors who moved from CA, complained about CA, but voted for the same things they ran away from. Liberalism is truly a mental illness.
Abbot still won Tarrant easily (and Trump won it).
But Ford Bend is very worrisome. I was certain Cruz would lose it but Abbot nearly losing it was a shock (and Hillary’s margin there wasn’t small), that means it’s not just turning against “unpopular” Republicans but against Republicans in general. Dems running for AG (that race was almost as close as Senate) and LT Governor carried it (and maybe other statewide races as well, I can’t find county results for them) and the rats elected (an Afro-American) DA and ousted the longtime GOP County Judge. I see a mirror of DuPage county Illinois.
Bump
Trump has the same problem/virtue.
If you are loved by the world you're doing it wrong.
We still haven’t recovered from the socialism that was implemented during the last depression. Another event like that and it is game over.

... I only hope it is not contagious!
Rolling Plains. Between Ft. Worth and Lubbock. Very rural.
Sadly, it takes a LOT of <10,000 population counties to cancel out one Harris or Dallas sized county.
Whites (non-hispanic) are already a minority in Texas (45.3 %). So we either work on integrating and co-opting hispanics, or just give up wait for the inevitable turn blue. It used to happen in Texas, but the leftist identity politics are rampant in schools, universities, and mainstream Christian churches, so we are already seeing a La Raza generation coming into voting age.
He needs to go away. Burnt too many bridges. At the same time I am beginning to feel like a man on a desert island. Where did all the people come from who vote against their own best interests over politics come from?
Trump easily relates to people. He speaks from the heart and doesn’t repeat the same story, about himself, over and over.
I’ve attended several Cruz functions....always the SAME canned speech about how his dad got here from Cuba, with $ sewn into his undies :-(
Nothing wrong with that story—he just needs to talk more about OTHER folks, like those he’s representing.
True That.
