Maybe it’s as with 007; people see that character as a man, a certain type of man. If a director changes too many factors, that means they have invented a new and different character, not what is being advertised at all.

Not a Dr Who fan but did watch/enjoy the Matt Smith/Amy Pond series after watching a short YouTube clip of the final scene of the “Van Gogh” episode.
So I watched E1 out of curiosity of the female Doc...for about 20 minutes and recognized it was total PC crap.
Used to watch it with the kids, now it’s merely a LBGT type of indoctrination thing, haven’t watched in years
I’m OK with Jodie as the Doctor but it’s definitely leaning to preach the PC/SJW mantra and that might be enough to get me to stop watching if it keeps it up.
Tried watching it in the 80s. Then a few more times in the following decades. Always seemed LAME to me. I’m a huge sci-fi fan but no, not for Doctor Who. If it’s excessively PC? I’ll never watch it.
One smart move the producers did from the onset, they wrote a reason to can the current actor right into the story. Guy asks for a ridiculous sum…new incarnation of Doctor Who is waiting in the wings.
I’m pretty good at ignoring PC garbage if it is incidental to an otherwise great story, the “Black Mirror” series is a good example of that. However, the new season of Dr. Who is just not good. The storylines are, for the most part, rehashed “monster of week” episodes that we’ve seen a thousand times before. The character dialogue sounds like it was written by high school theater student. And yes... the PC garbage, where in the past they would tape you on the shoulder with some gay rights agenda or anti-gun morality tale, now they beat you over the head with the PC baseball bat nonstop. In the last four episodes we’ve had one anti-gun diatribe, one entire episode that portrayed every single white American in the episode as a violent, racial slur hurling bigot. One episode with a “wealthy hotel magnate and presidential candidate” illegally dumping toxic waste beneath his hotel who was obviously suppose to be Donald Trump and the latest episode about a man “getting knocked up” on shore leave and having a baby.

New Who lost me during the creepy, stalker Peter Capaldi era. I have no desire watch an even more Woke version of the Doctor.
Time to let it go and wait 20 years for the next reboot. Besides, I still have all of my Pertwee and Baker shows to rewatch.

Doctor Who sort of ended when David Eccleston left for me, although there were some good stories with the next two. I bailed soon after Peter Capaldi, and he could have been one of the greats in another era.
Now? Gallifrey Falls.

I DID mind it being for nothing more than virtue signalling purposes.
I’m not watching any more. And it’s not for a political statement; I’m just... not interested any more.

Can’t stand the new female Dr.
I’m only an occasional watcher and did not find the female Dr. Who all that offensive. The notion of doing so irritated me but the actress is doing a fine job. What put me off completely was the last episode I watched. Rosa Parks. Apparently she needed the help of time-traveling white people to get her pitiful self on that bus. It was mind-numbingly stupid and yes, racist. Poor, poor black people, we’ve just got to help them. It annoyed me to the point that I may not watch it anymore, we’ll see where it goes. More of this sort of pap and it’s overshadowing the interest of the series. I’m not some passive lump of a schlub just sitting there waiting for my mind to be filled with leftist propaganda.
Every show on TV is totally PC, gay themes with LGBTWXYZ thrown in for good measure.
Twitch.tv a few months ago showed a classic Doctor Who marathon featuring all available episodes from the 60s to 80s. It was amazing despite the rubber costumes and cheap sets. Not only is it more politically correct now but the writing is just plain lazy. It’s worse in every way except the sets are better.
