Doctor Who has seen a dip in ratings since the series, which stars Jodie Whittaker as the first female incarnation of the Time Lord, began in October.

The iconic sci-fi show is now on its fifth episode, and Sunday night's episode The Tsuranaga Conundrum, which received an average of 6.1 million viewers.

In comparison, the season's first outing The Woman Who Fell To Earth had 8.2 million watching, almost double the viewer ratings for last year's opener.

I used to really enjoy Doctor Who but over the past few years the man bashing has gotten ridiculous. Like having plucky female companions no longer in need of rescuing but rather walking into rooms full of hostile aliens and berating them for their stupid testosterone idiocy and having them shuffle about and look all embarassed. If you're going for a feminist farce, okay. But that's not my cup of tea. Then they fired all the writers and replaced them with even more lefty crew, then had the Doctor be a woman so they could make it even more boringly preachy.

I'll pass.

Didnt watch a single episode so far.

Doctor Who sort of ended when David Eccleston left for me, although there were some good stories with the next two. I bailed soon after Peter Capaldi, and he could have been one of the greats in another era.

Now? Gallifrey Falls.

I’m OK with Jodie as the Doctor

No. We know male and female Time Lords/Ladies exist because Romana was a Time Lady.

Therefore a male time lord does not transmogrify into a female time lady.

Want a Time Lady? Create a new character. Don't pull this subtle transexual bullsh*t on us and tell us it's "normal" for that species.

No it isn't. It's completely abnormal.

I don’t blame Whitaker; it’s the writers and showrunners. she was great in Broadchurch.

She was also great in the Black Mirror episode, "The Entire History of You" (probably my new favorite sci-fi series) it's basically a series of unrelated episodes of the "Twilight Zone" variety but set in the near future exploring the dangers of experimental and emerging technologies.

Which is sad.

I didn’t mind there being a female Doctor.

I DID mind it being for nothing more than virtue signalling purposes.

I’m not watching any more. And it’s not for a political statement; I’m just... not interested any more.

I’ve been re-watching older Dr Who.

Can’t stand the new female Dr.

After David Tenant left, the show collapsed like a rock falling into the Grand Canyon

The Female Doc is trying to channel David Tenant's mannerisms. It's not saving her.

Agree, she’s fine.

The pc writers, however, suck eggs.

I’m only an occasional watcher and did not find the female Dr. Who all that offensive. The notion of doing so irritated me but the actress is doing a fine job. What put me off completely was the last episode I watched. Rosa Parks. Apparently she needed the help of time-traveling white people to get her pitiful self on that bus. It was mind-numbingly stupid and yes, racist. Poor, poor black people, we’ve just got to help them. It annoyed me to the point that I may not watch it anymore, we’ll see where it goes. More of this sort of pap and it’s overshadowing the interest of the series. I’m not some passive lump of a schlub just sitting there waiting for my mind to be filled with leftist propaganda.

Agreed. I grew up with both Tom Baker and also Jon Pertwee. A shame a number of the Pertwee episodes got trashed or taped over by some rather bright people (lol) in the BBC bureaucracy, but fortunately most if not all of the ones originally lost have been recovered in one way shape or another. Same thing happened even more so to the Patrick Troughton episodes and also the William Hartnell ones (he who was the very first Doctor).

***

Hear hear!

I liked the concept of a character who may be ignorant of modern ways, but ignorance doesn’t mean stupid. Leela was very clever.

Every show on TV is totally PC, gay themes with LGBTWXYZ thrown in for good measure.

I agree!

Gallifrey (Do I have that right for Dr Who’s planet?) was supposedly destroyed during the time of an earlier Dr Who incarnation (To heretics like myself a past series! How past?) So it’s reasonable to assume from a SciFi respect-the-canon perspective that at least some of these time & space continuum hot rodders could have dodged that particularly anti-planetary bullet. You would have your Time Lady and remember Dr Who is not his real name

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Doctor_(Doctor_Who)#Name

Call her Dr What or Where or Why!

But No!
Do the Dr Who is a LGBTXHSOETEMGH(&% (Did I get them all?)
Got to keep those snowflakes from melting!

It killed my wife’s interest in Dr Who & she’s a long term fan!

Twitch.tv a few months ago showed a classic Doctor Who marathon featuring all available episodes from the 60s to 80s. It was amazing despite the rubber costumes and cheap sets. Not only is it more politically correct now but the writing is just plain lazy. It’s worse in every way except the sets are better.

Exactly!!!!

Romana was one of my favorite characters back in the day. They could have cast a great actress in that role, and I would have watched every second of it and be clamoring for more.

Instead we get this unwatchable gender-bending slop. Nuts to them. I refuse to watch it, and I hope it goes down the tubes.
