An irate passenger who missed her bus stop triggered a catastrophe in China when she attacked the driver who lost control of the vehicle, which plunged into the Yangtze River, killing everyone on board.
Thirteen bodies were found after the Sunday night crash, and two people remained missing, Chongqing police told China Daily Friday morning. Approximately 15 people were on board, cops said.
Bus surveillance video obtained by Chongqing police, as well as other evidence, shows that a 48-year-old female passenger, identified only by her last name, Liu, missed her stop and asked the driver to stop immediately, the outlet reported.
When the 43-year-old driver, also identified by his last name, Ran, refused, Liu hit him over the head with her cellphone. The video shows the pair swinging at each other, with the driver still attempting to steer the bus in between blows.
Suddenly, the bus swerved onto the wrong side of the road before striking another car, breaking through a guardrail and plunging into the river in Wanzhou, Chongqing.

Lousy driver. While she’s slapping on him he should have brought the bus to a stop, instead of directing his attention away from the road to her, allowing the bus to lose control and killing everyone.
Or an atypical driver with training in China...
Holy survealance state, so no one lived to tell the tale, but China has it recorded and at hand.
Driver lost control?? Bullshit. Watch the video.
The driver turned the wheel sharply to the left and drove the bus off the bridge.
He did not lose control, the bus was going straight until he turned the wheel and drove it off the bridge.
we got plenty of these type “immigrants” here. Don’t care about nothing but themselves. Cut across 3-4 lanes of highway not to miss their exits or stop in the middle of lane on regular roads to make turns they should not be doing there. drop trash wherever. don’t hold door open from people comingin few steps behind them. lots and lots of differences in foundational believing US citizens and foreignors visiting or living here in some capacity who show very little respect toward our ways of interacting let alone our actual laws.
very sorry for all the extra people who died and their families who will be without them due to this woman’s selfishness
I agree with you. He did it deliberately.
Hopefully they were both among the causalities.
Everyone on that bus died.
I saw another story that claimed he told all the passengers to get off at the previous stop and they didn’t, sounded like a suicide in that one.
I guess she showed him!
I live in the next city over - Chengdu. Word here is that the driver wanted to hit the railing but not go over! An accident like that, caused by passenger assault, might make him a wealthy man!
I didn’t know they had democrats in China.
I agree. Like someone I know who had a bug in her car and started fighting the bug. Fortunately no one was injured but 2 cars were total as a result.
If you knew Chinese women then you’d understand why he did.
Yep, looking at the video, considering all the time the driver was looking at her instead of the roadway, I’m surprised it didn’t happen sooner.
And about the bug in the vehicle, you bet! Lots of people are dead because they allowed themselves to become distracted over a bee, spilled drink, a passenger, cell phone, you name it.
She walked up to the driver's seat and scolded him for not stopping.... The driver turned his head back 'several times' arguing....As the quarrel escalated, the statement said, the woman 'hit the driver on the head with her cellphone'.... The driver took his right arm off the steering wheel and fought back..... He grabbed her arm when she attacked him 'again', then hastily steered to the left, sending the bus out of control....Thirteen bodies have been found and two remain missing, ....
I watched the video too. Thanks.
