My mother was Danish. She used to laugh at Victor when she'd go back to visit family.

He'd perform at Tivoli. He knew there were English speaking tourists and that many Danes spoke English. So his act there was in Danish and English.

But what the Danish speakers knew was that the English language part of his performance was him poking gentle fun at the expense of the English speakers who did not understand a word of Danish!
