Good job and great post thanks
***and died exactly when it returned in 1910. Pretty weird.***
SEE! I knew the poison gas in the tail would kill us all off, except those who had gas masks or took the anti-comet pills!

So he may not have actually witnessed either event.
Amazing! Thanks!
I might well be. Sometime around then there was also an event with all the planets in a row. Whatever Im remembering was in the later half of the 90s
You’re thinking of the Harmonica Virgins. I wonder what happened to them.
Apocalypse Troll?
Happened to be in Guayaquil Ecuador on 4-11-86. For a $100 you could go in a 737 at 30000 feet to see the comet. I was fortunate enough to be seated to a guy from the consulate who spoke Spanish.
The plane flew around in circles for about 2 hours. I managed to see the comet through binoculars. It looked like a medium size star with a thin tail. My seatmate never saw it and neither did about half the people on the plane.
As the plane landed the pilot announced that anyone who did not see the comet could get a rain check to see it the next time.
Eerie...
Chaos agent , do you always speak, or type, without thinking? Or did you actually give it some thought prior?
“Halleys 1986 apparition was the least favourable on record. “
Yup. From about as young as I can remember, I’d been looking forward to seeing it. Arrived, but viewing angle & tone were so bad I just didn’t. Grrr. Medical tech better get good enough to keep me going until next time.
Did you catch HaleBopp in ‘97? That was an incredible sight.
“Comet HaleBopp (formally designated C/1995 O1) is a comet that was perhaps the most widely observed of the 20th century, and one of the brightest seen for many decades.
HaleBopp was discovered on July 23, 1995, separately by Alan Hale and Thomas Bopp prior to it becoming naked-eye visible on Earth.
Although predicting the maximum apparent brightness of new comets with any degree of certainty is difficult, HaleBopp met or exceeded most predictions when it passed perihelion on April 1, 1997.
It was visible to the naked eye for a record 18 months, twice as long as the previous record holder, the Great Comet of 1811. Accordingly, HaleBopp was dubbed the Great Comet of 1997.”

Do you always make stupid comments before maybe Googling ‘Apocalypse Troll’ and finding out it is a well-known Sci-fi novel by David Weber
It’s about what looks like an incoming meteor explosion that turns out to be a space battle between humans from the future and an alien race bent on coming back in time and wiping human civilization in the past.
Maybe you should think before you speak... or type next time.
Lol! Nope. Hadn’t known about that. Figured you thought I was some sort of doomsday nut.
