Life will be great again when I pass this damn thing. Right now, it's giving me a break. Started this past late Friday morning while driving. Ever since then, it's been off and on pain on a level of 7 out of 10. Early this morning was an ordeal as the pain started just after midnight and lasted until about 3:30am. I had to take the day off work. Been drinking boatloads of water since Friday.
Someone said drink fresh lemonade or lemon juice. Thoughts?
BTW, this is my 3rd bout with these things so not my first rodeo. First two were on my left kidney. This one's on the right.
Like cancer, KIDNEY STONES SUCK!
I have passed a few.
Last one was about 7 years ago. Then, I read a post on FR about drinking lemonade.
I started buying lemon juice concentrate.
I mix up about a quart of water with 1/4 cup of sugar and 1/4 cup of concentrate. I drink half at noon on two consecutive days.
I have not experienced a stone since. When a jug of concentrate gets low, I put it on my shopping list.
Also, 2 aspirins might help with a current passing.
“Ive been wrestling with roids that feel like someone pulling barb wire out the O ring.”
Ever had roid surgery?
I have.
You quickly find out that your anus is involved in EVERYTHING your body does.
God in Heaven forbid you should cough, sneeze breathe, blink....
I've heard black tea, cider vinegar, and a drop of olive oil helps prevent and ease them. Lithotripsy also works.
Lithotripsy on both sides last time in July. What a relief to pee out the last debris!
They can bust them up with lasers. Or “shock” litho. Both suck. But not as bad as the stones.
My advice would be to first have a endocrineology workup done. I’ve had upwards of 35 in my life and the endocrineologist can tell you after they’ve finished their study exactly what steps to take. They can help 95% of their patient with dietary modification. Unfortunately I fall in the 5% that cannot be helped. My stones, like most but not all, are calcium oxylate. I am currently recovering from my second lithotripsy in the last month (one on each side) and will be adopting the lemonade regimen shortly. I made a deal with my doctor long ago that if he kept me supplied with hydrocodone I would pass them by myself at home and save everyone the time and expense since mine were considered to be “gravel”, smaller stones that I would have to pass by myself whether I went to hospital or not. Good luck to you. The pain is one thing but the lack of mobility for fear of having an attack at an inconvenient moment is constraining as well.

My surgeon had a bout and they immediately took him to SouthEast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan for laser treatment. He was back at work the next day.
Three options. Good luck!:
1. call your doctor, ask him to call in a rx for Flomax (urinary muscle relaxer). Take as directed. If you need pain meds, he might need to see you. (If you don’t have a doctor go to a urgent care walk-in place) Also ask your doctor about option #3.
2. drink more liquids but don’t dry-drown yourself - sip, sip, sip, up to 8 glasses/day - don’t go chugging gallons. And no, it doesn’t have to be lemon juice unless you really like lemonaide - that’s a myth and wouldn’t work on 2 of the 3 kinds of kidney stones anyway and the one it might work on are the softest to begin with and more likely to break up naturally, so save your money. But don’t drink grapefruit juice. It’s a tricky juice. Have a soda, coffee, tea, soup, anything you like.
3. lucky guy, schedule some time with the wife

home remedies:
Cranberry juice is good to help avert infection. And it’s a comfort food. Like having mom at home. Asprin is good for pain. IMO easier on your kidneys than motrin, etc. ymmv Antihistimine may help you sleep.
Versed is your friend!
“Ever had roid surgery?”
No, thank god! I’ve heard it’s way up there on the suck scale. I did have 5 internals banded while out for a colonoscopy though. That sent me to the ER two days later!
Maybe, but stuck kidney stones suck more
get on magnesium glycinate. kidney stones are calcium build ups because you’re low in mag.
Avoid mineral water or municipal water in areas where they have a lot of limestone. Filter your water. Might not help over the long run, but it certainly won’t hurt.
Get some Oxcodone - its the only time I recommend taking the stuff. Almost worth having the Kidney stone ;p
When I had mine, morphine was a godsend.
I get my ultrasound every year, just to make sure I dont have to go through that again.
I have been assured by female friends of mine who have had both kidney stones and babies, that kidney stones are worse.
Mr. mm is on a low sodium diet to help prevent stones.
That, of course, is based on the analysis of his stones composition.
So, sorry, no advice on how to speed the process or avoid it except to pray for a miracle.
I’ve been hesitant to make any kind of comparisons to female friends I’m close to on the topic.
