Vanity: Remember CNN Covered up Saddam's Brutality
A FreeRepublic exclusive vanity post | 10/22/18 | pepsi_junkie

As I read CNN trying to get Trump by playing up the apparent murder of a Saudi citizen by the Saudi government, I'm reminded that in 2003 CNN and the NY Times both admitted that they hid all sorts of atrocities being committed by Saddam Hussein in exchange for access. They admitted that Saddam and his sons told them in advance of planned assassinations that they didn't report. They admitted that they knew of instances of torture and brutality against not just Iraqi's but even against their own cameraman in one torture instance and they kept all that quiet too. They admitted that senior Iraqi officials came to them and told them that Saddam was insanely brutal and need to go. But they also admitted that they buried all of that.

Why did they do this? They say "well, if we'd have reported it those people would all still have been killed or tortured. And by keeping it quiet we were able to stay in the country so we could report ... well, not really the truth because we decided not to tell that stuff, but at least we could still be there to say bad things about Bush". So why did they admit it? Because we went to war and CNN and the NY Times knew that as the torture facilities became public knowledge, they'd have to explain how they missed all that. So they issued a per-emptive "we did it to save the children" excuse.

CNN now wants us to believe that the murder of Kashoggi has them running a fainting couch, and we should be reaching for our emergency smelling salts too. Sorry CNN, you den of viperous hypocrites. I'm not joining their faux outrage.

And the NY Times too. They also covered all that up. And they watched Stalin starve millions and decided to write that he was making the country into a workers paradise rather than telling the truth about it.

They are all lapdogs for tyrants and dictators. The NY Times was all in for Hitler and Mussolini before they were against them. But then again, they were just following the guidance of the DNC and FDR through the first half of the 1930s when Hitler and Mussolini were considered the great leaders of the future because of their marvelous new system of government with an super efficient all-powerful state, the magical and wonderful system they called Fascism. Oops, now they're marching into neutral countries and slaughtering innocent people by the millions. Uh, we were always against them, yeah, that's the ticket.

Nations kill people sometimes. The USA accidentally blew an Iranian passenger liner out of the sky in the early 90s. The Saudis kill and torture lots of people, I'm sure of that. And they do it on purpose. They also treat women like cattle, they toss gays off roofs. They cut off body parts for petty crimes. And it's the same with the Iranians and the Jordanians and the Syrians and the Yemeni's and ... I'm seeing a trend here. Anyway, CNN has no issue with any of that and will scream like hell if you say we ought to be careful about letting them into our country. Maybe now they finally found a muslim country they want to ban immigration from.

But wait, you say. CNN and the NY times are upset because Kashoggi was a journalist! CNN (or the NY times, forget which but I think CNN) had one of their cameramen be taken in and tortured by Saddam's people. A journalist and US citizen, tortured by Saddam. And they chose not to report it. No big deal, don't want to jeopardize that puff piece interview with Saddam later in the month over a small thing like one of our guys getting tortured. But Kashoggi? Battle stations everyone!

The Saudis were neck deep in 9/11 and Bush classified it to keep it hidden. It came out a couple of years ago when the classified doc was declassified and it was shocking to see how much support and funding from high level Saudis these terrorists were getting, and more shocking that Bush chose to hide it. Since reading that I think he's scum. And I certainly don't love the Saudis. But if we aren't going to level them over 9/11 I'm certainly not interested in doing it over some Saudi national.

In 1932 Duranty received a Pulitzer Prize for a series of reports about the Soviet Union, eleven of which were published in June 1931. He was criticized for his subsequent denial of widespread famine (1932–1933) in the USSR,[1] most particularly the mass starvation in Ukraine.

New York Times boy - assisted with covering up the starvation of millions... and won Pulitzer for his lies.

Hey - the Slimes is saying that, while Trump is claiming there are also potential terrorists/bad actors in the "caravan", "they have never really been a problem and ain't done no terror stuff when they sneaked through with the regular invaders"...

That's why we call them all "Fake News"...
