Should you get the flu shot? What to know about the 2018-19 flu season
Fox News ^ | October 18, 2018 | Madeline Farber

Following last year’s flu season — the worst in decades, killing an estimated 80,000 Americans — health professionals have a strong warning for citizens as this year’s flu season arrives: get your flu shot.

“The flu shot is incredibly important because it reduces your risk of contracting the flu,” Michelle Lin, an emergency room doctor, and professor of emergency medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City, told Fox News on Thursday.

All flu injections use a dead virus that the body detects and increases your immune system to prevent three of the five flu viruses of the strains anticipated by the producers. That leaves two that are not anticipated to be active this season. So you can get the flu even when receiving an immunization. Plus it takes up to six weeks for your body to build up sufficient anti-bodies to ward off an exposure. To avoid contamination some vaccines contain preservatives for use in low volume applications such as your doctor’s office or rural areas. I get my injections at high volume locations that use vaccine without the objectionable preservatives and always confirm this before consent. Then I take standard hygiene precautions and avoid confined areas with other people. Works for me!

THE HISTORY OF FLU VACCINATION suggests other reasons to doubt claims that it dramatically reduces mortality. In
2004, for example, vaccine production fell behind, causing a 40 percent drop in immunization rates. Yet mortality did not
rise. In addition, vaccine “mismatches” occurred in 1968 and 1997: in both years, the vaccine that had been produced in the
summer protected against one set of viruses, but come winter, a different set was circulating. In effect, nobody was
vaccinated. Yet death rates from all causes, including flu and the various illnesses it can exacerbate, did not budge. Sumit
Majumdar, a physician and researcher at the University of Alberta, in Canada, offers another historical observation: rising
rates of vaccination of the elderly over the past two decades have not coincided with a lower overall mortality rate. In 1989,
only 15 percent of people over age 65 in the U.S. and Canada were vaccinated against flu. Today, more than 65 percent are
immunized. Yet death rates among the elderly during flu season have increased rather than decreased.

I feel that if you get enough vitamin D3 plus vitamin k2 in your system, you will most likely not get the flu if exposed, or get very mildly ill. You also need a good immune system (plenty of sleep, exercise, and pro- and pre-biotics, not much sugar in the diet). If you can manage that, you probably won’t get the flu and you won’t die from it.

If your blood vitamin D levels are below 50 and you won’t get them above thst with supplementation, you’d better get that shot, or you could get really sick. Though getting the shot is a risk each year - they don’t always nail it.

The lower your D, the more chance you will get a bad case. I learned that with double pneumonia in 3 days with the H1N1 flu before I learned about the magic of enough vitamin D. The D takes a few weeks to build up so start now. Average sized adult, 5000 IU a day - until late spring (unless you live in the tropics and get a ton of sun exposure). You might need more if you are very large or have some chronic conditions. Get tested and adjust your supplementation until it’s over 60.

I often get exposed to the flu but I haven’t gotten it again since thst H1N1 and since I started supplementing. Still soemtimes get a bad virus though. Mostly from not getting enough sleep.

About half the time I do and I can’t really tell the difference between years I do get the shot and years I don’t.

Six of one; half dozen of the other...

As I do not live in a climate with much temperature change, never really thought I needed a shot.

One time I got sick last 13 years was when my wife had been visiting the mainland and I caught something from her.

There are infectious disease advantages and disadvantages living on a remote rock.

You do not get exposed all that much, but when you do, could well be something you do not have an immunity built up for.

I’ve never gotten a flu shot in my life, and I don’t intend to start now.

We take 4,000 units of D3 with K2 everyday plus during flu season we take an elderberry tincture that Mr. GG2 makes up every year. I have not had the flu in over 20 years.

I caught an early flu this year but will get the shot anyway. Had a shot last year and didn’t get it then.

It makes an individual’s chances a little better for avoiding the flu or having a less severe illness, but it’s really about herd immunity. If you and enough people in your area get the shots, your chance of avoiding it will be much better.

People who are allergic to eggs might have a reaction.

Last year, for the first time, I had some noticeable but mild flu-like symptoms for about a day after getting the shot. Didn’t get the flu afterwards, though.

"This is a 1-time 50,000 IU dose of vitamin D3 or 10,000 IU 3 times daily for 2 to 3 days. The results are dramatic, with complete resolution of symptoms in 48 to 72 hours."

Add to your vitamin regime today and potentially skip the impact of flu season entirely. Good luck!

I wouldn't call being sick with the flu for 2 to 3 days "skipping the impact" of the flu season. That sounds like the Beverly Hillbillies episode where Granny gives everyone her magic cure for the common cold, which she guarantees will cure the common cold in 7 to 10 days.

The way to potentially skip the impact of the flu season is to get a flu shot.

i never got the flu for the 10 years i took flu shots. I never got the flu for the 10 years I didn’t take flu shots. Conclusion: ????

The conclusion is that you were luckily never exposed to the flu in that 10 years.

Never got a vaccine or flu shot my entire life.

I cannot remember the last time I got the flu.

And now I will put up my strengthened immune system,
over your artificially weakened, drug dependent immune system.

Happiness, with a smile, is carrying an advanced immune system into elderly age. :-)

The flu shot is for the “public health” meaning not your health. As with most vaccines, the idea is to prevent a widespread outbreak at the cost of personal risk to the individual.

I’d never get a flu shot. But, then, I am not on the subway or sleeping in a dorm.

JUNK INJECTIONS

Lottery?

Try reality. Vaccines are ONLY 10% effective.

That is when the CDC quits lying to people.

10% means you really only had 1 shot in 10 years. Of which you really had maybe ONE SINGLE effective shot in 50 years.
All the while being subjected to 50 years of junk injections.

FR is where you get your injection dose of reality.
