Researchers looked at pairs of identical twins where one of each set was straight
The homosexual twin tended to have a more 'male' hand with differing fingers
Essex University scientists said the differences may be determined in the womb _____________________________________________________________________
The length of a person's fingers could provide a clue to their sexuality, with women whose ring fingers are longer than their index digits more likely to be lesbian, a study has suggested.
Researchers at Essex University looked at sets of identical twins where one of the siblings was heterosexual.
They found that the homosexual twin tended to have a greater difference between the length of their index and ring finger, with the difference most pronounced among women.
Previous research has indicated that exposure to the male hormone testosterone in the womb could be linked to differences in finger length and also to sexuality.
Women's index and ring fingers are typically of similar length while in men there is a greater difference.
Both men and women are exposed to the 'male' hormone testosterone in the womb.
The study observed that in 18 sets of female twins, the lesbian twin had more 'male-typical' hands than her straight sister.

That’s not what it’s saying.
It’s saying that it may be a developmental thingy..........
Yes, about “run in families”. My siblings and I (5 of us) all have 2 characteristics from our father: One left rib is “square”, not the normal curved shape. And on the 2nd toe on our left foot, the toenail is sort of angled differently.
I do not know anything about my parents’ finger lengths.
JMO, but I believe homosexuality in either men or women is due to psychological and/or emotional issues more than anything - perhaps brought on by being molested as a child, being rejected by the opposite sex, poor role models, etc.
For instance, girls with male features were possibly rejected by the guys because of their male features - so they go with it and go all out butch.
There's probably a similar interplay between genes and environment with homosexuality. A certain girl's genes may make her look and act "butch" and a boy's genes may predispose him to be a "sissy," both of which in turn predispose them toward homosexuality, but most tomboys don't grow up to be lesbians and not all sissies grow up to be gays.
Those who say that genetics has nothing to do with it sound like idiots, but so do those who say that people are 100% "born that way."
I, like totally, do not get that......................
***I bet they wont do a study on what percentage of women with longer ring fingers are NOT gay.***
Bank on that.
According to them, I’m supposed to be homosexual also. I’m going to start looking at my friends’ and family members’ hands more closely now.
Your Patheos link wasn’t good. It took me a while, but I did find the Warren Throckmorton piece.

Came here just for that!
Sex Panther cologne... 60% of the time, it works EVERY TIME!
Have to keep up the high intellectual standards we’ve become accustomed to.
It’s not a guaranteed indicator. My very feminimine wife’s index finger is significantly shorter than her index finger. She laughed when I told her she’s supposed to be a gay mathematician.
Hi Red
didn’t mean to confuse or hijack your thread.
But the ‘long fingers’ topic jogged my memory of a silly Saturday Night Live skit from 1990, where Actor Rob Lowe does an over-the-top impression of Arsenio Hall, with his fingers seemingly getting longer and longer as the skit goes on.
