It is doing GREAT. We have done Roku and installed YouTube TV on our Samsung Smart TV and we don't even MISS cable at all. Should have done this YEARS(or when Roku came out) ago! Need to turn in all of our cable boxes/remotes though.
You’re right. It’s a game of whack-a-mole. They keep outlawing the good ones, and they pop up again under another name.
This is the way you find out the current working ones and load them.

It’s not a big deal it all if you are even slightly a techie.
Streaming = watch what you want when you want.
Cable = you can only watch what is on and pay highly for it.
The choice is easy. Dump cable!
ACORN TV. I’ll look for it.
SLING TV would be an excellent competitor to DirectTV Now.
Thank you for your imput. It has been very helpful and appreciated.
I am glad to hear that the service has gotten better and that most are happy with it. I tried to get the direct tv now all on Roku, but I need to purchase a newer model for it to show in the apps.
I want Fox news and direct tv now has all the channels my family watches. I just got my new cable bill the month for $184 (some hidden promotion ended). That’s for regular cable, phone and internet. I’m keeping the internet and cancelling both tv and phone. We can just use our cell phone and all I get on the regular phone is sales calls anyways.
it’s nuts to think that apple, amazon (FFS), hulu, or netflix want us dead any less than directv or comcast.
Before ATT, I had comcast.. for years. They kept raising my rates even though I had a locked in rate. I’d call and they’d change it back.. this went on for a few years. The final straw was when they raised my bill $40, up to $180. I had the cable ATT had laid and called them. They didn’t do anything right, but I’m still with them until the 2 yrs is up. They have hundreds of channels but there is nothing on. I watch 2 channels.. would watch a couple more but even though they were supposed to be in my list, they are not.
I am tired of the companies raising the prices.. they are way over priced anyway. And with that many channels, Looking for what is on for any given night, is tedious.
My first cable bill was with comcast and it was $30 a month. Not any more.
Google Hallmark, I think it is Hallmark now or Hallmark go.
When would you estimate 5G will have the same coverage as 4G currently has?
Asked my wife, Hallmark Now doesn’t show the new stuff, it is a rotating selection of old stuff.
I’m sure you’ll like it. They have a “staff pick” feature among the newer arriving videos. There hasn’t been one we haven’t enjoyed. Have fun!
We have the Roku 3 and the Fire TV on our 4k TV and an older roku 2 and the $40 Fire stick on our smaller 720p set. We can get DTVN using either Roku but only when we use the Fire stick can we get all the features on DTVN. The DTVN’s DVR doesn’t appear on either Roku but does when we use the Fire. The video on both TV’s also seems sharper on the Fire. If you need to upgrade, I would keep the Roku you have so you can get the Roku TV channel and get a newer Fire stick ($40 or $50 for the 4K model)to use with HDTVN. It gives you additional stuff and flexibility.
Great info. I wondered how the well the fire stick worked. My son wants the dvr, so it would have been disappointing if it hadn’t worked. I think I’ll take your advice and get thanks fire stick instead. Thanks!
I was watching a show on Netflix and they put the streaming speed in the corner. The speed was between 2.5Mbps and just less then 5Mbps. It was high def 1080. Sharp picture.
I pay $42/month for internet that has 70/mb download speed (they keep increasing at no add’ll charge as their is competition in the area) and $30/month for Sling tv. I also have Amazon as I buy lots of stuff and they throw in shows and music for the $10/month. $10 for Netflix and a Roku box that I have installed many free apps with a gazillion programs. Do a search on Popular Roku apps to narrow down as there are over 3,000 listed at Roku.
I have way much more content to watch at half the price of cable from Time Warner / Spectrum. I also have a Mohu leaf antenna for free tv.
I watch more free tv then the others so I could cut back but I like choice and it is costing me only about $50/month for the extra channels.
For people with tv’s that have usb and hdmi connections you can plug in a wireless keyboard and mouse and navigate thru say Youtube on the tv screen. Much easier then using the tv remote.
Speeds needed.

Thanks. Ill give it a shot.
Just be sure to get it from a place (like Amazon) that has a 30 day return window and is good on returns and then try it out as soon as you get it and use it regularly. The interface, compared to the Roku I have, may be different and the remote may need getting used to. If you don’t like it, please be sure to return it within the return period. I’m certain you know all of this already but I felt it bears repeating.
Ping!!
Thank Jane! Great information here.

CNN, MSNBC, NBS, CBS, ABC, Fox, ESPN, BET
All get paid when I have a cable or satellite bill even if I never watch their programming.
