Between July and September, the county identified nine cases of flea-borne typhus associated with downtown Los Angeles,
and six of those cases were in people experiencing homelessness, according to the county.
There are (now) 57 cases of flea-borne typhus in LA County, a health department spokesperson says.

The above article is from 5 days ago - the count now is 54 confirmed cases.
The number of infected has doubled in 5 days.
Yup
"Fatalities are uncommon, occurring in less than 1% of cases, and the disease can be treated with antibiotics, according to the county." (Emphasis added.)
It seems the author of this article and the local health authorities don't know as much about typhus as they claim and have never read The Illustrious Dead: The Terrifying Story of How Typhus Killed Napoleon's Greatest Army by Sephan Talty and available though Amazon. In short, typhus was the greatest force that reduced Napoleon's Grand Armee that invaded Russia in 1812 from an initial size of about 600,000 men to a final size of about 20,000 men. IOW it's a horrible, lethal, contagious disease that particularly afflicts people in crowded, unsanitary surroundings, like vagrant camps, that's not to be underestimated, and the LA authorities are underestimating it.
Holy something, Nully. This is some scary stuff!
All the rich Hollywood libs are going to get typhus too. Their mansions can't shield them. When Rosita, Maria, Juan and Julio show up for their jobs as cooks, gardeners, and maids, they are going to bring the fleas with them. LOL and so, so schweeeet!
Touché!! Well played, LR.
Many years ago in our country, there were suitable punishments for those who allowed this sort of thing to flourish,& in fact, even encourage it with stupid laws/regulations. Some of those suitable punishments need to be brought back into popular use. Too many bleeding heart lawyers are preventing it,I assume.
Fantastic! More biodiversity for the US!
