Yale classmate says Kavanaugh misled Congress on his drinking habits

A man who attended Yale University with Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh went on the record on Sunday accusing Kavanaugh of "mischaracterizing" his alcohol consumption during last week's Senate Judiciary Committee hearing.

Chad Ludington in an interview with The New York Times said he saw Kavanaugh "staggering from alcohol consumption" multiple times, describing him as a "belligerent and aggressive" drunk.

"It is truth that is at stake, and I believe that the ability to speak the truth, even when it does not reflect well upon oneself, is a paramount quality we seek in our nation’s most powerful judges,” Ludington said in a statement, according to the Times.

Ludington said Kavanaugh during the hearing downplayed the "degree and frequency" of his drinking. He told the Times that the FBI has asked him to share his story at the bureau's Raleigh, N.C., office on Monday.

It is unclear if his testimony will play a role in the week-long FBI investigation into allegations of sexual assault against Kavanaugh, the Times reported.

Several other classmates in recent days have accused Kavanaugh of misleading Congress over his alcohol consumption. Former FBI Director James Comey in a Times op-ed published Sunday charged Kavanaugh with "lying" under oath.

Kavanaugh throughout the hearing insisted that he has never blacked out or passed out due to alcohol consumption.

Christine Blasey Ford, the woman accusing him of assaulting her in 1982, has said that Kavanaugh and his friend Mark Judge were intoxicated during the incident.

Kavanaugh told outside counsel Rachel Mitchell during the hearing that he has never "passed out" from drinking.

"I’ve gone to sleep," he said. "But I’ve never blacked out, that’s the allegation. And that’s, that’s wrong."

Kavanaugh appeared agitated by questions from Democratic senators about his history with partying and drinking, at one point asking Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) if she has ever blacked out due to alcohol consumption.

"I like beer,” he said in response to one of Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse’s (D-R.I.) questions. “Do you like beer, senator? What do you like to drink?"

He said repeatedly that he likes beer but does not drink heavily.

The FBI probe will last a week and investigate Ford's allegation as well as claims from Deborah Ramirez, who has accused Kavanaugh of exposing himself without her consent during a Yale University party in the 1980s.

Ramirez reportedly spoke to the FBI on Sunday.

My point didn't have anything to do with his character or behavior.

I was only responding to another comment that indicated this guy was outside the scope of the investigation so he wasn't an issue.

That may be true, but he claims the FBI has set up an interview with him on Monday, tomorrow.

So apparently, the FBI has made him part of the "scope" of their investigation.

What becomes of it, we'll all have to wait and see.

Funny. Once Kavanaugh admitted to drinking a few beers in highschool, that has become the new angle of attack: he was a falling-down drunk in school.

Which makes me wonder - will the FBI interview Judge Kavanaugh's teachers? His friends' parents? Any other adults that might have seen him a lot?

No way a guy like Brett Kavanaugh could never have made it through high school, college, then law school - at the tops of his class all throughout, had he a history of drinking irresponsibly. That’s not to say he may have “tied one on” a time or two, a few or more, but as a practice, a behavior...no, I don’t buy it for one minute.

The link does not link to the internal professor search engine... Which yields this and picture of a “Gumby” with horn rim glasses who STILL enjoys fancy food and expensive wine... to excess most certainly. Just saying. Look at this “curriculum vitae” of the “essential” studies of .....for God’s sake- food and wine. And the role of Irish merchants in creating the Bordeaux market. This dude is a real “claimer” with the Cameron middle name— particularly if one was a REAL Cameron clan you would not calumny a person without proof- there would be Clan consequences even today.

What’s more— there is a distinct element of jealousy— this guy, after all this education, passed over by Duke and is not even a full professor— he’s assistant teaching professor in.... food science. Pretty lame. Willing to bet his career was “affected” by being a commode hugging drunk- who now feels edified to express bullcrap about #1 in his Class roommate at Yale. Just cause he can— as a good tavern Democrat. The FBI will put some heat on him. What a clown. But, please-— y’all call the #, and saturate his email. Data dump time. Nothing nasty— just ask him why he’s not a full professor of anything... important (other than consumption of beverages which apparently he has done to excess for quite some time, while “researching”!). What a baby huey load of whooey gourmand-— an effete low achieving snob— perfect lib.

Biography

Charles Ludington received his undergraduate history degree from Yale University and his master’s and doctoral degrees from Columbia University. He has published essays on the Huguenot diaspora in Ireland, British and Irish political thought in the late-Stuart era, and the history of wine consumption in Britain from the mid-seventeenth century to the mid-nineteenth century. His first book, The Politics of Wine in Britain: A New Cultural History (2013, paperback 2016), used wine consumption as a window onto English, Scottish, and British political culture from Cromwell to Queen Victoria. He was elected a fellow of the Royal Historical Society in London in 2014. Since earning his doctorate in 2003, Ludington has taught Early Modern and Modern British history, European history, European intellectual history, and food history at Duke University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and North Carolina State University. He has won three teaching awards, including lecturer of the year in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at North Carolina State University, where he was made a Teaching Associate Professor of History in 2013. From 2015-17, Ludington has been a Marie Curie Senior Research Fellow at University College Cork and Universite de Bordeaux-Michel Montaigne. He is investigating the role of Irish merchants in the development of Bordeaux wine into a luxury product during the period 1700-1855.

Stop panicking folks. If Kav had had a drinking problem at any time that would have come out. He has been through background checks for very sensitive positions including background checks to be near the President of the United States. If he had reputation for genuine belligerance that would have come out too.

We should welcome the neo Bolshevik's war on beer. It's a war on America. Hell, it's a war on the world. Everyone drinks beer, or if they don't they drink wine, and if beer is under attack wine will be shortly.

What is looterguy's choice of beverage - well we all know - he made off with a case of beer.

I have a feeling this Yale guy is going to find his poor life turned upside down, interviewed by professional interviewers since clearly he has bought off on the current Democrat talking points and a case could be made that he is seeking glory as the guy who will take Kav down. I get asked about colleagues on SSBIs on a frequent basis. You don't just say - oh he gets drunk and he's belligerent. Then the questions really come - how well do you know him, what frequency, etc. etc. how often, exactly what did he do when he had to much. Ok one time - any other times.

Well if he was drunk as often as he says, then how come he got grades good enough that he got into a top law school. If he is so drunk all the time, and was belligerent, how come Ken Starr never saw it. How come Hillary's dirt diggers never found it out. How come his colleagues on the bench or the attorneys arguing cases before him never found it out.

Given Kav's squeeky clean background the presumption is that any significant dirt brought up is probably fraudulent.

In fact how come this guy went to the newspapers instead of the FBI? And then the question will come - you know, lying to us is a felony, and you do know that your story is inconsistent with everything we know about him, and you know that Kav will get access to a copy of this report, so do you wish to amend any of the statements you have made to us.

If it was part of the interview he would have (should have) been asked to provide some to cooperate that statement (a developed source) and that person would have (should have) been contacted for cooperation. Those are called developed sources.

Somebody that contacts the FBI out of the blue is usually investigated because most people don’t go out of their way to report this stuff.

I personally do not trust the FBI to do a fair job, sorry they have lost creditability with me.

Let’s not forget ole “hoover nose” Billy Boy Clinton— who is on record for having to have nasal septum surgery to close up a hole in his septum from snorting so damn much cocaine. But uh... that didn’t affect his judgement naw suhhhh!

Beer is... food, since ancient times. Cocaine is not, it is a drug.

Obama— off the charts on cocaine alone, not to mention concurrent weed use in the WH. An f’n stoner with delusions of his own brilliance.

It isn’t just 82, the feds are going after the Ramirez allegation, too.

Perhaps we need to give RBG a breathalyzer. She has a habit of passing out in the middle of proceedings.

Ask him while they are at it— “Did you attend the 4 day open city drinking festival, that turns Raleigh into a giant bar full of drunk bluegrass music “listeners”? Cause that is what just happened thru today. The Intl Bluegrass Music Assn.-=- and the Wide Open Bluegrass festival of BAR CRAWLS—— people who LOVE BEER btw.

And some of them are Hugonot descent too. LOL. What a goofball this guy is.
