I know this goes back 20 years and my memory is a bit fuzzy on this but I seem to remember folks of a certain political party who said that what a person does in his private life has NO BEARING on how he does his job and if his wife does not object to his proclivities, then neither should we.

You completely misunderstood te context of that position. It applies specifically to amorality as practiced by those who are sexually promiscuous, lie to cover up for misdeeds, and will say anything to get ahead.
“Mind you own business” does not apply to liberals out to get conservatives. It only applies to conservatives who fail to live up to their own standards. It does not apply to people who have no standards.

It most certainly was not a republican, because, his own party would have censored him and banned him from the party and shamed him to the point that he would have had to resign whatever office he held, and would have been forced out of the country.
Boy was Clinton pissed. Of course who wouldn’t be? Especially a good Southern Baptist who carries around a huge Bible, knowing that he had been so wrongly accused by the Great Right Wing Conspiracy faction.

In days of old I typically liked to go to a local bar for such presidential speeches. I recall where I was for that particular one. The crowd (in somewhat liberal ********,**) laughed at his finger wagging tale.
