GOP thinking about delaying hearing
They just can’t be this gullible. If they do it then they will loose a lot of votes in the upcoming election. People want change.

These senators don’t want Kavanaugh to walk. They know that if he does, the next nominee is likely to be a “Deplorable” flamethrower from the Midwest or Great Plains who didn’t attend an Ivy League school and makes the late Antonin Scalia look like a Marxist.
The only good thing about a delay assuming it is short is that Professor Ford’s credibility is going to be hammered when she testifies. Also, Kavanaugh’s own testimony will be bad for her and good for him.
Best thing for the Democrats is that she doesn’t testify and that the Republicans are blamed for her not testifying.

I'm sure they could do a Wednesday hearing without a problem. Ask the Democrats to waive the one-week requirement, and then change the Senate rules if they don't agree.

If she does testify it will certainly be in private. We will never get to see her demeanor or hear what she says and the Dims will misrepresent what happened. It won’t help the Republicans’ case at all.

She can testify behind closed doors but this isn’t a matter that involves national security. The transcript of her testimony will eventually be made public — maybe even within 24 hours.

Kavanaugh has nothing to testify about. Ford hasn’t even made an allegation against him that meets any legal standard. She has to testify for the record so he has something he can actually respond to. Otherwise, he would testify first and then she could just say: “Oh, I made that all up.”

I think what Tucker was saying is they have to give 5 days notice if new hearing is set and they are negotiating with the attorney this evening who allegedly said she would testify under certain conditions next week without prior investigation but not on Monday so that the 5 day rule would move it to next Thursday for her to appear if they agree to a change
