An Ohio supermarket worker could face criminal charges after her employer told cops that she consumed more than $9000 worth of deli meat during the past five years she has worked for the business...
... told cops that a tipster had reported that the employee ate three to five slices of deli meat daily (and had been doing so since she began working at the supermarket). The worker allegedly "has been consuming product from the deli in Giant Eagle over the past 5 years,"

I think about $5. Is that a lot of deli meat? It's about half a pound of meat or less per day depending on what she was eating.

Assuming she worked 250 days a year over 5 years. That would be about $7.20/day. Which would be like half a pound of meat a day.
And while it’s possible she was consuming that much the fact is they have no evidence. They have one person’s testimony. Why didn’t the person report it earlier?
And if the worker ever had a supervisor that said it was okay to occasional try a slice, the case falls apart.

7 Who serves as a soldier at his own expense? Who plants a vineyard and does not eat its grapes? Who tends a flock and does not drink the milk? 8 Do I say this merely on human authority? Doesnt the Law say the same thing? 9 For it is written in the Law of Moses: Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain.[b] Is it about oxen that God is concerned? 10 Surely he says this for us, doesnt he? Yes, this was written for us, because whoever plows and threshes should be able to do so in the hope of sharing in the harvest. 11 If we have sown spiritual seed among you, is it too much if we reap a material harvest from you? 12 If others have this right of support from you, shouldnt we have it all the more? But we did not use this right. On the contrary, we put up with anything rather than hinder the gospel of Christ. 13 Dont you know that those who serve in the temple get their food from the temple, and that those who serve at the altar share in what is offered on the altar? 14 In the same way, the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should receive their living from the gospel.

It seems like the sane solution here would be firing the employee, not getting the police involved. Wouldn’t be surprised if union protection prevents an easy termination process.

Giant Eagle stores are unionized. Her firing will last about a month before some arbitrator rules that she be rehired.
This story is tailor-made for a Liz Warren campaign ad claiming that if Giant Eagle paid their employees a “living wage” they wouldn’t have to sneak ham from the deli.

They did. Adding all the speed together, I was traveling faster than the speed of light which meant that I arrived before the offense and couldnt be charged.THIS is the reason I read Freerepublic.

Exactly. The only useful evidence they would have in such a case is what she says to them.

Every time I buy meats the worker slices a piece and offers it me. Ill see ten to twenty slices given away at a crowded deli .

Working as a burger flipper, I feasted on a lot of food that was unfit to sell. I would imagine that working at a deli, you could snack on the ends of all of those meat bricks.

At Giant Eagle they could be. That store is so damned expensive I rarely set foot in there.

After eating ham, she had to go on the lam.
She tried to lam, but they cheesed her. And told her to cough up the bread or she was going to the cooler.
