This was expected to be an easier year for Senate Republicans.
Democrats were supposed to be playing defense as Senate candidates ran in conservative states that President Trump handily won two years ago.
But for Republican leaders seeking to maintain control of the Senate, some races are becoming a little too close for comfort.
A prime example is Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, a former presidential candidate who is now fighting to hold on to his seat.
Weve got a fight on our hands, Cruz said. The extreme left, theyre angry, theyre energized and they are filled with hatred."

Not only did Cruz betray Trump at the convention he has mostly sat quietly as a Senate back bencher the past two years while the hysterical Never Trump “resistance” that his campaign birthed has blossomed. Cruz has never taken ownership of that and been the wing man to POTUS his alleged conservative values should have demanded.
Apparently, Mitch McConnell is only a liar when Cruz runs for POTUS. Cruz has been most AWOL in these historical times and is right seen as a typical opportunistic career politician. That is hurting him with conservative voters who should be enthusiastically supporting him.
Cruz coasts to an easy win, Trump holding a rally for him in Oct.
And GOP base is energized to save Trump!
He isn’t.
No polling means anything this far out.
Trump will endorse him in Oct.
Conservatives know we need Cruz and aren't going to allow a D take the seat.
If he is -- and that's not certain -- it would be because of his big dick move two years ago at the RNC convention.
Just like Trump was?
So instead of the embarrassing Pollyannas and there are many here, loudly proclaiming we will pick up 65 seats in the House and 12 in the Senate, to do some homework, regroup and then work and vote and make sure others vote, too.
I completely agree. Roy Moore losing was a blessing in disguise. A horrible candidate, who frankly, did not deserve to win. After all, he hung out at Notre Dame the weekend before the election, 1,000 miles from Alabama and that is just for starters.
This has nothing to do with 2016. If you think it does and if you think this will act like the 2016 election, please ask Obama if the 2010 midterms were like 2008.
Some really don't understand what will happen if the dems take the House and it isn't just impeachment. It is all the committees and each one will investigate Trump and each agency. It will literally dominate the administration's time and energy, effectively bringing Trump to a stop. "Scandals" will flourish daily. That nothing will get through the House is merely an afterthought.
You tend to forget there is a defense playing this game and it is not so easy to get anything done which is why the government is structured such as it is in the Constitution.
Obama had 60 votes for a while and Trump has never had 60 votes.
It’s all about turnout. Whichever side gets more people motivated to show up will win.
I have never come across any media that the dems will win everything. Exactly what are you reading?
“The establishment take turns winning”
Yep, that’s the way they’ve been doing it for years. Hopefully that trick has ran its course with the Trump phenomena.
Trivia: Rahm Emanuel’s real family last name was Auerbach. The name was changed in memory of a Zionist uncle who died fighting Arabs in Jerusalem.
...We do know this: the party that is out of power, picks up seats in the first mid term election. There are a few exceptions, and they are unusual...
True, and Trump is the most unusual and winningest POTUS we have ever seen. With Trump, it’s: “So it is written, so it shall be done.”
So the question becomes: what can Trump do to demoralize the Dem base from turning out?
Hmmm. let me guess...No commie care repeal, no wall, repubs have majority in house and senate.
Any questions?
