Republicans' Senate majority in jeopardy? Tight races raise alarm
Fox News ^ | 9/10 | Mike Emanuel

This was expected to be an easier year for Senate Republicans.

Democrats were supposed to be playing defense as Senate candidates ran in conservative states that President Trump handily won two years ago.

But for Republican leaders seeking to maintain control of the Senate, some races are becoming a little too close for comfort.

A prime example is Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, a former presidential candidate who is now fighting to hold on to his seat.

“We’ve got a fight on our hands,” Cruz said. “The extreme left, they’re angry, they’re energized and they are filled with hatred."

Not a prayer in hell anything of the sort happens without widespread election-rigging of the most extreme sort.

Your proposal is acceptable - to the Democrats. They will try it. You can bet on it.

Watch out for mail-in ballots of every kind. Volunteer for the audit and canvassing groups that are supposed to check this stuff.

Forget about the "provisional ballots". They will go Democrat 90% of the time.

Have people ready to challenge a close election and keep demanding recounts if needed. Have other people ready to file lawsuits demanding a repeat election or void precinct totals if major discrepancies cannot be resolved.

No more 200% turnouts from Democrat precincts should be accepted.

It’s psych warfare. Shouldn’t we all be used to this now from the MSM? It’s no so much directed at us, but they know the weakest link in the GOP is the establishment and the RINO squishes. They take MSM polls and anti-Republican stories as gospel even if they’re totally bogus and BS!

Roy Moore was a diaster as a candidate. Just like the clown in MO who made that stupid rape comment.

If the GOP-e knew what they were doing and would listen to voters, they could be looking at a 8 seat pickup.
Instead they decided to listen to McCain...and he is still dead.

This texas race has tightened but ....last three polls were dem polls...just saying..wonder how Cruz internals look.....I’m more worried about Tennessee where Bredesen is popular and Blackburn like most women candidates just doesn’t light it up even though I like her a lot and have supported her for years and wifey knows her

We (the GOP) have no one running for the Senate in KS this term but we do have all our Representatives (4) up for re-election.

In my own KS 3rd District, my choice is between a mixed race, self-styled, lesbian Communist (calling herself a Democratic/Socialist) running against the turncoat Kevin Yoder!

Though I must truly hold my nose to vote for him, I’m smart enough to understand it IS about the numbers and the balance of power - a GOP Speaker of the House (I’m really pulling for Jim Jordan or the “moderate” Kevin McCarthy vs Nancy Pelosi!

I’ll NEVER vote to turn the House over to the Communists, knowing they will impeach Pres. Trump, period!

“Ignore everything and just get out and VOTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Yep, assume you’re behind and desperate.

Just think how you felt election night 2 years ago. My wife and I stayed up until Hildabeast conceded and popped open a bottle of champagne in celebration.

I want to do it all over again this November.

Go out and vote!

It’s not going to fly this time around. Remember one of the first things Trump addressed was election integrity. He knows the score and won’t allow the Dems to steal more elections.

“Maybe so. It just seems to me that if Republican candidates, especially in states won by Trump, adopted the Trump platform, it would be no contest. By the Trump platform I mean, the wall, repeal Obamacare, drain the swamp, reform NATO and the UN, lower taxes, better trade deals...we wouldn’t be having this conversation.”

Yup! Get out the vote!

Even if we take this at face value, that Republicans may lose a few, there are still about 25 Democrat Senate seats up for election, and about 10 of those in states Trump won. There are a number of vulnerable Democrats, and those Democrats are still vulnerable, even if we see some Republicans not as solid as we had hoped.

35 Senate races for NOV, and it is 26-9 current Dem seats.

GOP candidate is polling behind in 7 states where Trump won by +9% or more.
GOP candidate is polling behind in 4 states where Trump won by +21% or more. (TN, WV, ND, MT)

The problem is either slanted polling (which is common), or Trump voters aren't getting off their butts for a mid-term. Hopefully, Obama coming onto the campaign trail will help motivate some more.

Current polls seem to have the Senate at +1 to +3 for the GOP... the House at -17 to -29 (and -23 changes the Majority)... and Governorships as -5 to -7 (majority is for bragging rights only, but the current 33-16 lead could mostly disappear).

CNN will have plenty to crow about on NOV 7, even if they don't take the House. Odds are that the Dems pick up seats overall. (Recall that they lost 1000+ seats at the state and national levels in the 3 elections since Obama won.)

The thrust of this argument is that some races are tighter than the GOP thought they would be. But what about races tightening for democrats in places like NJ? Really, NJ is a mirror to Texas. Deep Red, Deep Blue. Liberal sitting Senator Menendez, Conservative Senator Cruz.

Yet, yet, only one of those races is showcased as a sign of doom for one party. A close Senate race in NJ?!?! Granted, Menendez will win but still.

Sorry, I am not buying that the irrational hatred of Trump isn’t coloring and distorting rationality. Every story has been and will continue to be “blue wave.” Yet, unlike waves of the past, there are no supporting fundamentals. What is the Dem’s platform that has nationalized the election? What is it that has made Trump unpopular with the non-resistance voter? There is no unpopular foreign war, no bad economy, etc. As a matter of fact, on issue after issue the democrats poll on the wrong side.

Also, wherever Trump goes to campaign, his support is an instant turbo boost. I am just not seeing or feeling it for the Dems. What I am seeing is the usual, “GOP doomed, Democrats have already won, why bother holding the election” crepola and the let’s oversample democrats by 9 gazillion percent and make our fake poll the lead story.

Why is Cruz even vulnerable ?

The real question... some say "lack of likability", others blame the changing demographics (read: Mexicans continue to flood in, legally or not), some blame piles of Dem money and effort. Taking Texas would be a huge win for them.

(On our side, NJ is suddenly in play. It was polling +16% Dem a month ago... but corruption accusations have but that to +2%, and some sitting Dems in NJ openly saying they will not vote for the NJ Dem incumbent Senator Menendez. Would be the first new name Republican Senator elected in NJ since 1959.)

For goodness sake, Cruz betrayed Trump at the convention. Could there be a more effective way to alienate the base? People haven’t forgotten
