We haven’t had trouble from the Brits in over 200 years. Better keep an eye on this situation...
Sailors get drunk and rowdy. Who knew?
L
Should have put them in the room with the Captain’s daughter...
They got drunk because they are sailors and because of the humiliation of being assigned to an aircraft carrier with no planes.
And diesel fired.
I am amazed this is news.
Sailors got into a drunken bar brawl... First sign of hope for the British Navy in a long time. Maybe they haven’t forgotten all their traditions.
And diesel fired.

True, but no one can see that; lack of planes, however, is visible to everyone.
“I am amazed this is news.”
One of the reasons I stopped reading and watching the news was, I painted my parent’s closets. My mother had lined the closets with newspapers which dated from the late ‘60’s. They read exactly the same as papers of the day in the ‘80’s. Rapes. Robberies. Murders. Political “scandals.” Stories of depravity, debauchery and incest. Nothing was different except the names and the dates. I set about wondering what I would like to be informed about. I wanted to know the in-depth background that set up situations; the reason, for example, that the unsolved murder rate in Chicago has skyrocketed. (Rahm shut all the detective departments in the lower income areas as a cost saving move. It wouldn’t have been politically popular to close them in the richer, safer neighborhoods.) Nowhere in the “media” did I find these in-depth analyses. Once I discovered FreeRepublic.com, I abandoned the “news” media.
somehow this is NEWS????
Was stationed at San Vito Air Station in late '70s.
Went to Naples for a long weekend and spent one evening in the US/Europe Naval Base Service club - the Brit Navy was in and had put a bottle of champagne on every table no matter if it was empty waiting on someone or already had someone who wasn't Brit Navy at it.
As the night went on, they got "happier and happier". One was next to me in the restroom and leaning his head against the wall as he urinated - had a champagne cork in his teeth and it dropped into the urinal - he opened his eyes, retrieved the cork and put it back in his teeth. When I got back to the table to tell the tale, a fight broke out on the dance floor...funniest thing I ever saw as their shore patrol folks dove in to separate things - one's white hat fell off an he backed out of the fray until he could retrieve his hat and put it back on his head. I wondered about that and a more sober Brit at the next table said the hat was a symbol that the man was not to be touched unless one wanted to suffer serious consequences and the sailors knew it well - when the hat came off, so did his protection.
Arrrrg! They were even piloted by Captain Kyd. Read the article.
Those pesky limeys. Reminds me of a bar in hong kong years ago.
I’m more understanding of the brawling than the sailors standing on the pub balcony and urinating onto the street.
Charming.
Royal Navy Sailors Escorted Back To Ship After Urinating In Front Of Police
Anchors A-Weigh.
Werent the Brits supposed to get stol/vtol version of the f-35?
“You Yanks call this cow piss beer?” was heard just before the trouble began.
I loved the bit about one of the sailors being tackled by a female officer...
Bwah hah hah hah hah!
