Former Beatle Paul McCartney has told a British newspaper he believes he once saw God during a psychedelic trip.
The 76-year-old star told The Sunday Times he was humbled by the experience.
He said that it was huge. A massive wall that I couldnt see the top of, and I was at the bottom. And anybody else would say its just the drug, the hallucination, but we felt we had seen a higher thing.

Every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord
Probably that was jealousy as drugs pretty much zapped John of his creativity. Paul was doing the lion’s share during the Beatles’ final years. Paul probably just dabbled more than anything.
I had a serious “God-like” experience when I was 27.
My wife and I were in our LR while our two girls were in the family room. I was sitting on a couch and she was on the floor by my feet in total silence... almost like a meditation-type state.
All of a sudden a powerful wave came over both of us - began in the head and went thru our bodies into our toes. As it was happening, I turned my head slightly and saw the purest white light I’ve even seen and, perhaps, an angelic-like image.
My wife did not see that image or white light but three months later she discovered 5 breast tumors and seven months later she was gone.
I rarely share this story - not sure what inspired my to do so today.
“Hey Jude” came out of that.
Of course, the concepts of being a “home wrecker” have disappeared from our modern collective thoughts.
“The world would be a much better place had there never been the Beatles.”
Mere pikers compared to likes of Giuseppe Verdi or Richard Wagner of the late 19th century.
Whore-mongering, drugs, demons, murder, incest...they elevated all of them.
I always loved Floys despite not taking any drugs..
Recently I ate a couple of fungi with a buddy over a campfire and we put on the Floyd. Oh my God.
Best song writing geniuses of all time.
But I’ll stick to the bible to learn about God.
“Paul McCartney has told a British newspaper he believes he once saw God during a psychedelic trip.”
Sorry but The Sunday Times is THE British paper of record. Prefer the Telegraph myself.
So is this the “Real” Paul or the “Faux” Paul? Everybody knows the real Paul died in 1966 in that car crash.
It was the wall between him and god.
Don’t let me down
Across the universe
Both Lennon on the sparse Let it Be album and the only listenable tunes there.
I Want You (She’s So Heavy)
Come together
Because
Sun King
Mean Mr. Mustard
Polythene Pam
All Lennon from the otherwise saccharin pop of Abbey Road.
Lennon lifted McCartney from obscurity to stardom. McCartney would have been the most sought after studio musician in England otherwise.
Play it backwards add you may hear “I fired Pete...”
I agree, that Lennon was the dominant force the first few years of the Beatles, but once he met Yoko, Paul took over the reins.
Funny, I once played a "Donnie & Marie" record backwards and heard the same thing.
Did you see the first Paul also?
McCartney had merit as an entertainer but like most liberals was severely lacking in common sense.
That is very unusual. Very very sad ending to that. Im sorry.
McCartney was always a great tunester. It has its limits.
