The "Day of Labor" badge with the hammer and sickle is a post-WWII era recreation of the original, but minus the hakenkreuz (swastika), which postwar Germany forbade display of. The old "cross pattee" is often substituted for the swastika.

But yeah, the Nazis were not shy of using hammers and sickles for their own purposes.
