NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center says numerous people saw a very bright streak early Friday. A statement and video posted on Facebook says an analysis shows the meteor was first seen at an altitude of about 58 miles (93 kilometers) above rural Turkeytown, which is about 80 miles (129 kilometers) northeast of Birmingham.
The office estimates a small asteroid about 6 feet (1.8 meters) in diameter then broke apart about 18 miles (29 kilometers) above the town of Oak Grove. It was at least 40 times as bright as the full moon at one point.

Dang, you beat me to it. I was just about to post the video.
Heck, the song ( and the album) are so great that I’ll post it anyway.

While on the topic of Deep Purple, I want to wish Ian Gillan a Happy Birthday today. 73 years young.

Uh, Extremely, your gross Ultra Liberalness is leaking. Your might want to head to the nearest bathroom facility and change it. Or you could just go ahead and admit to being an Ultra Liberal with a very large grudge (over compensating for other much smaller areas, I would estimate) against the average person. You, sir/ma’am, despite anything you may say, are surely a Democrat Lurker.

A meteor turned into an asteroid? It started as an asteroid and became a meteor when it entered the atmosphere.
