Doc Holliday.
He was born and lived for some time in Griffin, Georgia...a town about 30 minutes SW of where I am. Wife and I have lately gone to Griffin to get a very nice custom made holster for my 1911. There is a Doc Holliday Saloon in Griffin that appears to be defunct. The house where Doc was born is touted as a museum, but that claim is in someone’s dreams about Val Kilmer. House is somewhat run down and definitely not open..
I grew up a little North of you, Fairburn. Haven’t been back in a few years. I hate that it’s run down. They had his dentist chair so they say was his.

We are in McDonough. The Saloon appears to be active, but there’s one hell of a chain and a comically-sized padlock strung through the front door pull handles. That tells me closed until further notice. It’s got all the markings of a real hoppin’ place, though.

How wonderful it is that you have that particular historical figure’s footprint in your surroundings! We do live in an amazing country. I think it is so important that we learn some of the local history where we live. It all matters. I imagine that if we ever had a non-Q thread where everyone cited at least one interesting historical fact from their locale, we would have quite a fun history/geography lesson! I love hearing stuff like that! Thanks!
