FULL TITLE: 'A little too late': Parents of Florida tourist, 35, who died after being punched in the face in New York, reject 'condolences' from the Wake Forest basketball coach charged in the assault
The parents of a Florida tourist who died after being punched in the face have rejected condolences from Jamill Jones, the Wake Forest assistant basketball coach charged over the fatal assault.
Bob and Donna Kent appeared on the Today show Friday and said that Jones should have tried to save their son Sandor Szabo's life after punching him early Sunday.
'If you're this good father, son, husband, why not try to take him to the hospital and see if you could save his life?' Bob said.
Jones turned himself in to police in Queens on Thursday, and his defense attorney Alain Massena later released a statement saying: 'This was a tragic accident, and Mr Jones and his family send their deepest condolences and their thoughts and prayers to the Szabo family.'
Donna responded to the statement saying: 'I'm sorry, your condolences are a little bit too late.'

The way the story was written is very confusing.
Almost as if it was meant to be that way.
It certainly confused me. :)
When you punch someone hard enough to kill that person, it's not an accident. Given the negligible justification for the punch, it's at least manslaughter.
Of course I never understand any story that includes the phrase, "got out of the car" unless the car was unsafe for some reason.
Never unlock your doors, never get out, if you must then crack the window to talk to someone but do not get out.
It never ends well.
Exactly. Knocking on the window is not a capital crime. Heck, if that were the case the homeless problem would have been solved a couple decades ago. No more squeegee guys either.
So it was black on black crime? And the victim initiated the violence?
Makes it a bit different. MSM won’t care about this story.
How many times has everyone had someone walk up to them in a store and ask a question under the obvious presumption that "we worked there". This case of mistaken identity doesn't sound much different. I'm presuming ... could be wrong, real motive isn't yet clear ... the "assistant coach" took offense at being mistaken for a lowly taxi driver, tantamount to his inflated ego to being called a n***er.
Black vs white. A total disaster.
It was not black on black crime. The victim (dead guy) was white, the other guy was black. But you’re correct the MSM will not care, just a dead white guy.
And over at the NYT building, Sarah Jeong does a little happy dance.
This is another example of why an “unarmed” man is a deadly threat & rates a justified shooting.
I am 66 and I carry. Suppose a 25 year old male who out weighs me by 30 pounds says he is going to beat my ass - well medically that is at least the intent to do severe bodily harm and realistically a death threat.
In the interest staying alive or not being crippled, I would then shoot this assailant. Then a local lefty local DA would prosecute me for using excessive force because the assailant was “unarmed”.
What a country.
The brain is surrounded by bone for a good reason.
Seriously, I'm not sure why he was attacked, but a Wake Forest assistant basketball coach did it?
It does however punch holes in the concept being pushing by some around here lately that being "pushed to the ground" is not assault and you should just man up and take it.
From the one-punch killing article:
“In New York, the Senate in June passed a bill that would toughen up state law to empower prosecutors to seek felony manslaughter charges against defendants who killed with a punch. The bill is supported by lawmakers who were upset by the five-month jail sentence served by a 17-year-old who killed a 59-year-old grandfather outside the man’s Bronx home in June 2014.”
“Ildefonso Romero had walked outside his home, tried to defend a teen girl who was being harassed by a gang and suffered a fatal punch in the process, authorities say.”
“When you punch someone hard enough to kill that person, it’s not an accident.”
The fact that the dead guy was allegedly drunk was probably critical.
My punch would not normally knock an adult down.
A punch thrown by a sports coach would be stronger than mine.
I hope this doesn't negatively impact the Wake Forrest basketball season! /sarc
Unlucky white guy tapped on the window of a car with a privileged black guy inside it. In this day in age blacks are on a hair trigger to take offense at absolutely anything and everything, and explode into violence. That’s all that happened. Walking around with chips on their shoulders. I hope he rots in prison
