FULL TITLE: 'A little too late': Parents of Florida tourist, 35, who died after being punched in the face in New York, reject 'condolences' from the Wake Forest basketball coach charged in the assault
The parents of a Florida tourist who died after being punched in the face have rejected condolences from Jamill Jones, the Wake Forest assistant basketball coach charged over the fatal assault.
Bob and Donna Kent appeared on the Today show Friday and said that Jones should have tried to save their son Sandor Szabo's life after punching him early Sunday.
'If you're this good father, son, husband, why not try to take him to the hospital and see if you could save his life?' Bob said.
Jones turned himself in to police in Queens on Thursday, and his defense attorney Alain Massena later released a statement saying: 'This was a tragic accident, and Mr Jones and his family send their deepest condolences and their thoughts and prayers to the Szabo family.'
Donna responded to the statement saying: 'I'm sorry, your condolences are a little bit too late.'

Someone please explain this to me.
Left the safety of his vehicle
Viscouly sucker punched a man for nothing
Watch him fall
Got back in his car and left
Turned himself in 4 days later
A hate crime and manslaughter minimum
Florida media reported this when the man (from Florida) died, but when it became known who the suspect was, interest was dropped.
Things that make you say “Hmmm”.
The victim was knocking on car windows trying to find his Uber pick-up that was to drive him to his location. The individual arrested for his death got out of his vehicle after the victim knocked on the window and punched the victim in the head. The fact the victim was drunk was mentioned only after the guy had hit him. Drunk or not, I think the fellow arrested overreacted; pushing him away from the vehicle would have resolved the issue.
A “-— moment.”
One man (Jones) was drunk after attending a wedding and was looking for an uber driver to take him home. He punched man #2 (Szabo) when (I’m guessing) he thought that man#2 was refusing to pick him up because he was black (not to mention, drunk).
I could be wrong.
Thank you Notthereyet
Journalism is dead.
I heard he walked from car to car, drunk, pounding on windows. This could be misinterpreted especially in NYC. Not defending the puncher. Just saying there may be circumstances
The guy could have stayed in his car and not responded. There, issue settled. Both men free to walk the streets and enjoy life. But NO!
Why not stay in your car?
“I could be wrong”
You are right about that!
Pretty much.
Szabo was the drunk man, stumbling around banging on car windows. Banging on the window of (the presumably sober) Jones' SUV got him punched in the face where he fell, hit his head, and later died.
Sometimes bad things happen when you are drunk and obnoxious.
Another chapter of "When Assholes Collide."
You are. Szabo (who is white) was the one who attended the wedding and was intoxicated. How badly we don't know. Could have been anything from slightly tipsy to stumbling drunk. Really does not matter.
Szabo knocked on the car window thinking that it was his Uber ride.
Jones (who is black) then gets out of his car and punches him.
drunk guy banging on cars early morning/late night. maybe a verbal altercation? I only have a VW beetle, but don’t bang on my car!
You’re right. Mea culpa.
Gee. I really misread this story. Thanks.
Yep. But some people are filled with such rage that they’ll take any opportunity to release it. The Wake Forest coach is evidently one of them.
You’re right about that.
Thanks.
