Okay, I'm the biggest anarcho-capitalist on this board, but this is what happens when capitalism starts producing zombies. The zombies must be put down.
Legions of users subverting the platform can cost them greatly. Maybe a friendly judges or pols can shove something HUGE up their ass.
They have budgets larger than entire nations, and they've basically declared war on us.
No, it's going to stay just like it is. That conversation has occurred before with FReepers begging, offering tech assistance for free.
Look closer. The danger is from misleading the masses, not from misleading us. We will find information. The masses will not look for it, and will simply accept whatever the big companies tell them.
Right now they are telling them that Queers and Transgenders are normal and we should accommodate them. Later they will be telling people that Christians are evil because they oppose Queers and Transgenders.
My point about Hitler's radio broadcasts is apt. What matters is that the bulk of the people hear/see the propaganda, it doesn't matter if we refuse to look at it or not.
Occasionally you say something which I regard as sensible.
Try this. https://d.tube/ Make sure you don’t have a script blocker blocking you from seeing the site.
You apparently have never heard of the terms "investors" and "public stock offering."
You must still think this is 1994 or something.
Says the poster with a pre-BC screenname.
Then youre willfully ignorant.
there were plenty of people in Nazi germany or Soviet Russia that still held their own thoughts and ideas.
Acting on those thoughts meant loss of livelihood and then death.
Web services and social media are very much income producing entities. That these companies colluded and arbitrarily force off conservative voices - in unison - is a direct attack on peoples livelihoods.
Kristallnacht in all but deed.
I know next to nothing about anti-trust laws but it seems whatever laws were used to break up the telephone company would apply to these near monopolies.
It doesn't work. I have Noscript, but I've turned it off for D.tube, it still doesn't work. All I get is a blank screen. I'm running an old system, and I can't update my browser because they no longer support my platform.
I don't think that will work. There are a lot of companies out there offering a similar product, and if they can't break into more market share, I doubt an upstart can.
The problem isn’t making a social media network. There’s tons of those:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_social_networking_websites
The problem is gaining UBIQUITY. These companies have their power because they have come to be synonymous with their section of the market. There are many Facebook like sites. There are many Twitter like services. The problem is they will always be “like” the ubiquitous competitor. If you look on that list Google+ (I know, still Google but stick with me) which is generally considered in the market to have been a failed attempt to clone Facebook has 300 million more users than Facebook and yet nobody calls Facebook a Google+ clone. It’s about owning the mind space. Investors can’t do that for you. Really nobody can do that for you. You either catch the buzz and become a synonym or you don’t.
thought it said tech “Trannys”. Im like whaaaaaaaaat? evelynn wood did me no favors....
“Waiting for the first person to make the argument theyre a private company.
Right here.”
Can AT&T tell you that can’t phone your mother and tell her that Trump is great?
One of those bells was South Western Bell.
They bought out AT&T and took the AT&T name.
“Quit using their sh!t.”
Great idea. If the Jews in Nazi Germany had only set up an alternative kosher government, WW II could have been avoided.
We could always start enforcing the Sherman Act again. It worked once.
I agree, however it would require taking advertising, which won't happen. I'd love to see firearm ads on FR.
I saved that one immediately for that reason myself. Thanks for posting.
I don’t get your video reference. Frank Zappa sucks BTW.
And their history of reconsolidation is pretty interesting. This chart is about 10 years out of date, its only gotten more concentrated.
