Murphy Brown creator Diane English says she may need to get security protection as she works on the return to CBS of the biting political comedy series.
“I might have to have some protection,” English told reporters in a scrum after her show’s Q&A panel at TCA. “I’m not kidding.” English referenced the “scary times” in which the show is coming back with original episodes after two decades.
The very first episode, which takes place on November 8, 2016, “really sticks our head into the lion’s mouth,” said star Candice Bergen, boasting, “This show has no fear of anyone.”
These “scary times” includes a death threat to CNN on-air talent phoned in to C-span by a Trump supporter that Brian Stelter played on his CNN program. New York Times columnist Bret Stephens similarly revealed a threat from someone warning, “I don’t carry an AR but once we start shooting you f*ckers you aren’t going to pop off like you do now” Stephens warned President Donald Trump will have blood on his hands if his enemy-of-the-people attacks on journalists pushes a supporter to such extreme violence.

There is more media attention to Don Sucka Lemon’s claim than to the fact that Obama’s FBI knew of a credible terrorist threat against the hosts of the “Draw Mohammed” contest but they chose not to inform the hosts of the very real threat instead they opted to sit back and observe the terrorists make their rampage (but didn’t expect private security would neutralize that threat).
President Obama believed that such an attack would be “instigated” by the victims just as he refused to stand with European leaders in denouncing the attack at the Charlie Hebdo office.

I used to like the original version of the show. Even though it leaned left, it wan't bat$hit crazy left like today. It actually sort of made fun of the pomposity of TV News people. I eventually tired of it and skipped the final few seasons.
I want nothing to do with the "new" version.
Last time I saw Candice Bergen was on Boston Legal many years ago and she looked ooooold on it. She must look ancient now.
Holy crap, how desperate are they, to bring this show back 25-30 years later? Bergen has to be in her seventies.
Did one person on Earth ask for this show to be back?

After Scott Bakula’s PC Captain on Enterprise, I would pass on a QL reboot.
We need a separate tv network featuring Conservative writers and actors to do fresh material that savages PC/SJW fascism to the max. The network would be the highest rated from its launch.
For that matter, I think it’s time for Conservatives to launch an entirely new entertainment culture separate and apart from the stagnant and evil Hollyweird. Why should we continue to rely on a group of rich, debouched lunatics who spit on us and our values at every turn and hope they appease us with an occasional program ? Screw them.
Oh I didn’t mean with Bakula as the star, maybe guest appearences. After this skit he did for one of those Late Shows.....(hint he tried to influence a child DJT) screw him.
But really, that’s a more rebootable show than half of this crap.
I’ve been having recurring dreams of “me” being the new leaper. The only one I remember well is I leapt into a porn guy getting ready for a scene “Oh boy”. But nothing happened, it wasn’t one of those dreams. I think I was supposed to stop this nice lady from losing her porn studio.
Imagine if they did a skit about a leaper encouraging Zero’s mama to have leapt into a volcano in 1961 (along with a teenaged Hillary). Those evil late night shows can do any vile thing they want, but lest our side do one joke along those lines, and they lose their $hit.
Leaping into porn ? Well, I guess it beats alternatives... like gay porn. =8-0>
Candace Bergen looks like 90 years old, can't they just call it quits.
