Woman's warning to pit bull owners after "gentle" dog launched sudden vicious attack which cost her an ARM
WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT. Yasmin Adam was left lying in a pool of blood after her pet savaged her flesh then chewed on her bone.
Yasmin said she used to allow Sir Hinkles to sleep in her bed every night.
Doctors at Broward General Hospital, Florida, battled to save Yasmin's left arm for three weeks before it was decided that amputation was the only way forward.
She said: "It was the most painful thing I've ever experienced in my life.
"I could see the bone clear as day. Eventually, they amputated it from just above my elbow on December 26.
"I'm just working on getting my right arm functional again. He ripped that arm apart too, but not as badly.
After that he attacked me on and off for nine minutes. The dog ripped all the meat off my lower left arm, and that's gone now.
"I just stopped fighting the dog. I figured I was going to die. He kept trying to pull the bone out of my arm."

“Akita or pit”
I add to that list the Siberian Husky.
I’ve been attacked by everyone of them I’ve come across. Maybe it’s something about their eyes. I mean when you see one, you look it in the eye. Then it gets all defensive and I’ll make a sudden move that it doesn’t like and it’s off to the races.
I’ve been attacked by an australian shepard too. Those aren’t that bad of a dog either. I knew it since it was a pup. One weekend it’s owners went away, when they came back the dog was a merciless terror. They had to lock it up everytime someone came over. This dog used to LOVE me and when I showed up 6 months after the change, it got out and latched onto my arm. I railed it against the porch rail to get it off.
Dogs in general can flip. Hell, those little dogs do it all the time. I don’t think a dog is right for my family. I don’t think they are right for any family - but I’ll get a lot of pushback in that one.
I love dogs too. I used to raise Pugs (I had a mean pug that took me 2 years to make friendly. I rescued him from a basement).
Yes, people do affect the dog. Often times dogs just flip though. It happens more often than those who think they are perfect like to think.
The Turkish Kangol (The REAL ones in Turkey) aren’t available for legal export. They are farm implements that are bred to maul packs of wild animals ... and people who raid the farm. And they are enormous dogs. The US Anatolian Shepard is another nasty, nasty viscous dog but it’s no where near it’s Turkish domestic counterpart.
I’ve been bitten enough times to adjust my lifestyle: No dogs are allowed near my family, none are going to be in my house and when I service computers in a home, there can be no dogs. Not locked up or tied up.. simply a “no dog” policy.
Good fences make good neighbors. When I lived on the farm, I had to snuff out several dogs. Some of them looked to be otherwise good dogs, but harrassing livestock is a death sentence.
Agreed.
I carry a gun not because I expect to be attacked by a person. I live in a nice area that sort of thing simply doesn’t happen.
I carry it because of dogs. Dogs are designed to move forward. Every muscle in their body is dedicated to the forward momentum. Also, a dog doesn’t watch movies and doesn’t understand that when they are shot, they should fall over.
So if a dog attacks, you need to remove enough muscle and tendon that it simply can’t move forward. This is multiple rounds. A pitbull’s skull is also far thicker than many wild animals and a headshot may or may not have the desired affect.
To prevent a dog attack, during the attack, the animal itself must be deconstructed. It’s scary as hell to think like this.
I’m looking to move. And when we look at new areas we do look at the local pitbull content and it affects our decision. Pitbulls, and by proxy those who desire only pitbulls (Their dedicated owners) are people that we find it best to avoid.
Antifa mentality. They also gang up and attack dissentng views PETA moles.
Love it!
“The Blackmout Cur hunting dogs I have are far more aggressive towards strangers than the Staffys.”
————I don’t know much about the Staffys, but I have a 5 year old Black Mouthed Cur. The only time she ever displays any aggression is when someone comes to the door, and she barks like crazy until they come in, and then she licks them to death. Either that, or when our larger German Shepherd pup steals her food, she displays that she has wolf ancestors with some of the sounds that she makes. She is really a very docile dog, it’s not aggressive at all.
With regard to pit bulls, I have never had one, and while they look cool, everything that I have ever heard about them screams “stay away!”
Mine lies sstill and lets our cat wash his ears and face. 20 years of staffie mix, and pit mixes.
“...these insidious hateful anti-dog threads...”
Anti-dog? I doubt anyone here is anti-dog.
“Pit bulls are bombs waiting to go off”
Liabilities looking for a place to happen.
What do you mean a burglar that got chewed on? Do you mean mauled? How extensive were the injuries to the burglar?
My Amstaff, my Bichon both on leash, were walking at a river access only camping site.
As I rounded a bend in the path I could see a woman a good distance away had her yorkie off-leash. It made a bee-line for my dogs in a very aggressive manner.
Having to think quickly, I positioned my small dog ahead and my large dog behind me. I figures if the yorkie attacked it would be better to be on my small dog rather than my large dog.
The yorkie sped towards us with the woman owner and her friend trying to catch up but they were too late and the yorkie launched itself on my small dog.
When my large dog positioned behind me saw this he backed out of his collar and the next thing I saw was a good portion of the yorkie disappear into my large dog’s mouth and he giving it a little shake.
The women started screaming. My heart dropped. I knew that even though it had been her dog off leash and the attacker, my large dog would be blamed by some.
I quickly got my dog to release and the woman picked her dog up. As I concentrated on getting my dog’s collar back on I feared hearing the worse.
but...
The woman said her dog was fine...not a mark or scratch on him!
All my dog had done is what adult dogs have done to unruly puppies from dog-time immemorial. Stopped the little dog’s action by holding it in place with enough to force that the small dog had little choice but to calm down.
The ladies apologized profusely. I was full of joy and relieved by with the outcome and very very proud of my dog.
Later in the day my dogs and I were returning from the riverside and the lady was controlling her dog in her arms. As we passed by the little bugger started yapping off again. Had to chuckle at his tenacity and little dog bravery.
How much more balance do you need?

There are many, many more. When people stop their denial they will look and prove themselves wrong. Go to a hospital and see a child mauled by a pitbull.
All owners of all dogs need to Contain and Control their dogs.
Your right to own a dog ends at the point where it infringes upon the rights of others.
Chewed on or mauled, what’s the difference? She caught him in the garage, took him down while I grabbed my 1911. I let her exercise her jaws on his leg while I held him at gunpoint for the police. He took a few stitches and later tried to sue me, but the judge literally laughed it out of court.
She was a well trained dog, and let go of him when I told her to.
Staffy’s or “Pit Bulls” some call them was “The Gentleman’s dog” strong, extremely fit, and excellent hunting dog, but needs to be run with Curs, or barking dogs. Staffy’s don’t bark much. They provide “backup” for the Curs.If you ever own one, raise it from a pup, teach it right from wrong(like people should teach their kids)Don’t mistreat it, but be firm with it. They are some of the best canine companions on the planet.
I think alcohol should be banned. No one needs alcohol.
A person that drinks alcohol has impaired faculties and is a ticking time bomb.
Alcohol-Related Deaths:
An estimated 88,0008 people (approximately 62,000 men and 26,000 women) die from alcohol-related causes annually,
making alcohol the third leading preventable cause of death in the United States.
The first is tobacco, and the second is poor diet and physical inactivity.
In 2014, alcohol-impaired driving fatalities accounted for 9,967 deaths (31 percent of overall driving fatalities).
In 2010, alcohol misuse cost the United States $249.0 billion
To learn more about the horrible statistics and consequences of not banning alcohol.
See here... https://www.niaaa.nih.gov/alcohol-health/overview-alcohol-consumption/alcohol-facts-and-statistics
There is no good reason not to ban alcohol.
The relatively few cases of individuals not having a problem with drinking
does not make up for the 10s of 1000s of lost lives due to the availability of Alcohol.
Not in the least. I don't see anyone saying they hate dogs. Most of us have likely had dogs around us our entire lives. What we are talking about is common sense, good citizenship, and safety.
I have a mixed mini pinch/yorkie all of 8 ibs...
The problem is she thinks she is 80 lbs...and queen of the house...
The other three latger dogs in the house do not mess with her....
Have you ever faced an unfriendly pit bull?
I think folks should never trust a large dog 100% of the time around small children. A child inadvertently grabbing a dog the wrong way could invite disaster.
