CHICAGO (CBS) — A 57-year-old woman is killed after being attacked by a pit bull on Chicago’s far South Side.
It happened near 101st and South Calhoun around noon Saturday.
Police said when officers arrived at the scene, the dog charged at them. Both officers fired their guns killing the dog.
The victim was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. The dog bit her throughout her body, including her neck.
Police are still investigating. It’s unclear where the dog’s owner was.
CBS 2 has confirmed the woman’s name is Karen Brown. Her nickname was “Punchie.” pw South Side Woman Killed By Pit Bull

According to a family member, there will be a vigil at the scene of the incident Sunday at 6:00 p.m.

Your bias is showing......you and a few others here are the reason I no longer share this site with ‘progressive’ acquaintances. They read some comments here and realize, justly or not, this forum is poison. This sites loss, for you see they, along with myself, are white collar professionals with a broad potential audience base.....and dollars. Many are of that oh so desirable minority subset. So keep insinuating that black kids are potential ‘pit bull’ killers ala thug Martin. That Muslim babies are similar to ‘pit bull’ puppies in killer nature. Minorities may change up from being Dims, but they won’t join the so-called inclusive, conservative Republican party which many here claim allegiance towards. If you are a trolling progressive, congratulations on fooling me into responding. If you are a ‘conservative’, well in the vernacular of my former/current patients....’something’ you. That’s okay then. I apologize for accusing you of a false accusation. By the way, I posted those excerpts in #105 to support you.
Here’s the point of that comment for everyone. It is both biblical and observed in men’s laws by the more righteous men in the more righteous jurisdictions.
We’re blessed to have animals on this planet, but we were given permission to kill them for our use and for other reasons (meat, pestilences, property, livestock, hides, etc.). We’re not allowed to kill people except in self-defense and warfare.
I like dogs, have worked with them and have taken very good care of several. For example, I do care enough and am not too lazy to build a fence to keep a dog out of trouble.
But I won’t have a liability dog that would possibly maim or kill a human being. I’m better than a dog at making potentially crippling or fatal security decisions and using an appropriate level of force. No one should ever leave such decisions to any kind of beast, and that includes government officials.
Still a non answer and comparing the value of as animal to a human is a clear sign of your mind set. Thanks for the conversation.
Just making an observation. I never had any issues personally with chet99, but was witness to his time on FR.
Quite a few of us have posted nearly exclusively about one topic for great lengths of time. I posted hundreds of articles about Iran for a while. Others have posted many narrow interest articles on economics without posting much else. Some FReepers only post threads about their one chosen topic, as far as I’ve seen.

100% accurate. However, this particular focus on this particular subject is unusual and rare enough to be remembered by many who have been here for a while.

Just making an observation...an obsession with pit bull violence is a bit rarer and stands out more than say, someone who is known for discussing military matters like Jeff Head, or others who might focus on aviation, and so on.
Most of us have only known one person whose area of focus is violent pit bull behavior.

When a thug ( of any color) assaults or kills someone and APOLOGISTS post pictures of the that thug when they were young and cute, rather than the current pictures of said thug, they are engaging in a sleazy attempt to deliberately mislead and sway public opinion.
Posting pics of pit puppies on a thread about a mature pit mauling a human is the EXACT SAME THING. Doing so puts you on the same level as the poverty pimps who are dishonestly working to mold public opinion. I would wager a good deal of money that most freepers find such dishonesty to be appalling. I am also confident that most freepers see your clumsy attempt to shut down pointing this out by playing a race card where it does not apply.

Talk about a generalization! In the last 25 years I’ve had three dogs, and every one of them have been pitties or pit mixes. All three were rescues. And all three were devoted and loving pets, who got along splendidly with people and other dogs. Pits are so very eager to please their people: Treat the dog right, and it will return that affection in spades.
BTW, I am neither a “diminutive Bro” or a “man-hating lesbian.” In fact, I am the furthest thing from either.

He just forfeited his CCW by publicly stating he would intentionally go and hunt down the dog and its owner; that is premeditation, and there is no legal defense for that.
