Thanks! That is definitely in my area of interests. As a teen I was intensely interested in the mountain man/plains Indian era. An amazing time and place in history.
FWIW I was referring to the “Philly” comment. :)
I’ve been there the last two days
Would be wonderful to avoid Yellowstone during high season. The problem is that most of the rest of the year it is closed due to snow. Very severe weather during fall/winter/spring in Wyoming.
White people.
Folks taunt the animals at Yellowstone often.....
....occasionally there isnt a happy ending.....the animal wins.
Once we were driving down (probably this same stretch of road)...
...and a whole herd of buffalo started across....
....all the cars could do is stop and wait
...we have a picture of a huge buffalo walking past our car...so close we could have touched it!
Those elk in Estes Park make themselves at home in the neighborhoods...
....a few years ago, while we were there, a woman came out her front door and an elk charged her and hurt her badly.
Hook ‘em!
Lets see. 2,000 pound Ice Age mammal almost kills 200 lb (not too bright) homo saipien. Uh huh. Yeah, this guys parents were swimming around in the low end of the gene pool.
About an hour ago I buffaloed my own right testicle while shaking the crap off my flip flop, lol. I hate it when that happens.
There’s another story on there, “Across the Plains in 1844” about the Oregon Trail. Pretty damned harrowing, what our people went through to tame the West...
It’s nothing short of amazing. Even the ones like my great grandfathers who only went as far as Iowa and Nebraska and carved out farms and ranches. Survival was almost all on their own heads.
It would have served him right.
“...Survival was almost all on their own heads....”
A rifle on your shoulder, your wife and children in the wagon, and a hostile wilderness that wants you dead.
And Our People survived, and flourished, and conquered it.
We ARE exceptional, and always have been.
We were just there last week. A lady in front of me at Beryl Spring asked her friend if she stuck her finger in the pool of boiling water would her finger fall off. I so wanted to tell her that if you pull on a buffaloes tail he will be your friend but I didn’t. I just gave her a rolling eyes look.
Probably..I saw video of Yosemite a couple months ago, and it was jammed with people, so much so it appeared as a Knotts Berry Farm amusement park with props, every venue, like waterfalls, view points, walking paths and all these loud obnoxious tourist jammed together jabbering and gawking. It just didn't seem right.
I once watched one put a big crease down the whole side of a mini van.
Signs said don’t stop, the van van was stopped though, and in front of me so, I was stopped. I watched and then went around on the other side.
Must of cost a bit to get that fixed.
Nothing to a bison though.
better to jump in front of a Toyota (at least, no horns)
It has one horn. It goes *beep* *beep*. :-)
Ah... did we need to know this? Jus’ sayin’
