Julie Fletcher of Bolivar, New York, has filed a lawsuit against Canada Drys parent company Dr. Pepper Snapple Group, claiming the companys ginger ale drink, which bills itself as being made from real ginger, hardly contains any ginger at all.
In Fletchers class-action lawsuit filed July 10 in New York federal court, she noted Canada Drys ginger flavor extract is not real ginger as reasonable consumers understand that term, according to the New York Post. It is manufactured in a lab using various chemicals and extraction processes.
While the product has some ginger compounds, the percentage is a minuscule two parts per million.
Instead, Canada Dry Ginger Ale is made from carbonated water, high fructose corn syrup, citric acid, preservatives, and natural flavors, i.e., a flavor compound comprised predominately of flavor extracts not derived from ginger, and a minuscule amount of a ginger flavor extract, the lawsuit alleged.

She should be grateful. I had some ‘real ginger’ ginger ale a couple of months back and it tastes AWFUL!...................
That’s the question.
And there’s no cocaine in Coke.
And no cocaine in Coca-Cola.
When I was younger, the debate was about Mary Ann or Ginger. Ginger or Mary Ann.
Now that I’m old - I must say - that Lovey Howell looks pretty damn good too!

I’ve had it.
Tastes awful................
Perhaps she should sue Dad’s Root beer, for not having dad or roots in it..............
and a minuscule amount of a ginger flavor extract, the lawsuit alleged.
Looks like they admit it in their suit, the minuscule amount will be the debate.
Not to mention there’s no ham in a hamburger, either.
Well, apparently, this wannabe Einstein was channeling her inner Wiccan and using Ginger Ale as a homeopathic remedy for her child that suffered from a tummy ache. Since Ginger is supposed to cure all gastro-intestinal issues, this seemed a logical, and sweet, answer to her dilemma.
The suit does not indicate whether or not her child recovered or that actual Ginger would have resolved the tummy ache.
I used to bring ginger ale with me when I went on deep sea fishing trips. Ginger ale and ginger candy are good for the stomach when sea sick.
Obviously a brain injury..................

...maybe the single best reason to watch The Big Sleep.
It isn’t from Canada. It isn’t Dry. It doesn’t have Ginger and it isn’t Ale. But does anyone buying it not know that already?
Ginger is cheap even at inflated retail prices.
I make a ginger, Hibiscus, limeade drink. Takes about 15 minutes and makes a half gallon. Costs lees that a 12 oz can of soda water and all the ingredients are fresh and I know what they are.
It gets worse. Did ya hear about the cannibal suing the Girl Scouts?
Turns out there are no girls in their Girl Scout Cookies.
One of the best colas I ever had was Canada Dry Jamaica Cola (no longer made as far as I can tell). Less sweet than Coca-Cola or Pepsi. It went great with a ham sandwich on the side. Fond memories.
