SALINE COUNTY, Ark. - The sound of a barking dog echoes down terrace drive.
A sound that may haunt Bobby Brimer.
"I mean it hurts to even think about what I've seen," he said.
Monday morning, returning from errands, he turned on a road he's driven up for 30 years, only to witness an horrific attack.
"Seen these dogs dragging a woman down the road into the ditch."
He jumped out of his truck with his cane and tree trimming tools and tried to beat away the 8 or 9 dogs from the helpless woman.
"She was laying in the fetal position and one dog had her by the leg the other by the neck pulling her," he said.
He says her injuries are extensive.
"Looked like a jugular vein cut right here," he said pointing at his neck.
"She had blood squirting out of her."
He says the woman was attacked by the dogs outside where they live.
He says the owner has been told by neighbors that the animals are aggressive.
"For them to be on a little woman like that and tearing her a part, somebody needs to pay," he said.
When Saline County deputies arrived, one dog tried to attack an officer and was shot but not killed.
Three dogs, including the one that was shot, are now quarantined with Saline County.
Deputies are still trying to catch another one in the neighborhood that sits on the porch of the owner's home.
"Won't be no more walking up through there without a weapon," Brimer said.
The woman's identity has not been released. We were told she was in surgery for the majority of the day but her current status is unknown.
The woman attacked had been in surgery all day and has not yet been identified at the time of the video. However, there is a photo of her and her rescuer here:

It will be necessary to scroll down a bit for the picture and expansion of the original story. Warning: the photo is graphic.
This is an update on the story:
Dog Owners Cited after Pack Attacked Woman Walking in Neighborhood
The dogs’ owner has been cited for a Class A misdemeanor, and this is not the first time.
Having been warned, the dog owner should pay with something other than money.
In the first video, one female newscaster asks the other:
“Is there anything that she could have been doing to provoke the dogs?”
The other one answered “Well, I heard that she was carrying a small dog . . .”
Seriously? Another dog bashing thread?
When are you going to do the baby seal bashing threads? It sounds like your style.
Once again these are bad owners.
Being afraid of your own shadow is a miserable way to go through life.
Class a misdemeanor? More than one time. Time for the neighbors to put his dogs down for him.
Bad owner and bad dogs combination of both.
There are far to many good dogs out there to allow these dog to live.
There is no shortage of dogs to have dogs that attack and kill a human around.
If it was your child or mother, you might see things differently. People should be held accountable. Thats life.
A Pomeranian can’t kill me.
A dog bred for fighting might.
Breed? Need I ask?
Yep everyone else missed the fact that it was the owner out there biting the woman and not the dogs, but you cleverly picked that up.
If you look at the vast physical differences in dog breeds how can anyone not think that dog behavior is also genetic and varies as widely between breeds as physical form. But having said that if it were me or my relative that the dogs mauled, the owner just might be found face down, inert and unresponsive in a puddle of his own blood.
Oh sure, she was just asking to be attacked.
Just like women are asking for it when they get raped because of how they dressed.
That reporter infuriates me.
I think there’s a decent chance that some of the owners involved in these attacks aren’t just hapless bystanders who didn’the know what they were getting. We really need to up the penalties for every activity involved with dogfighting, including breeding and selling.
Where I live, the law requires that the dogs be under control on the property. If they are not properly fenced-in where they can’t get out, they’re required to be tied up. So that they cannot get loose.
While it will not happen, I would like to see a well-researched piece on the story and get a lot more detail. I’m somewhat surprised that it is only a misdemeanor for the dog owner here.
A Class A Misdemeanor in Arkansas is good for up to a year in the slam, and a fine of up to $2,500.
He should serve every day of that year.
