"Is he gonna blow us all up?"
So inquired one of Elisabeth LaMotte's patients recently, fretting out loud about the volatility of U.S. President Donald Trump's actions during a therapy session at her Washington practice.
It was a rhetorical question — one that predated Trump's threats of a showdown with Iran this week. But if the question wasn't meant in earnest, the politically induced anxiety LaMotte is hearing about from her clients certainly is, says the founder of the D.C. Counselling and Psychotherapy Center.
She refers to it as a "collective anxiety" among patients who feel on edge about how potentially dire the president's decisions could be.
"There is a fear of the world ending," she said. "It's very disorienting and constantly unsettling."
What's been called "Trump Anxiety Disorder" has been on the rise in the months following the election, according to mental-health professionals from across the country who report unusually high levels of politics-related stress in their practices.
And it's maybe not surprising given the relentlessly negative headlines and politically divisive climate.

We heard the same thing under Bush and Reagan.
If you listen to the MSM, it is imminent we’re all gonna die. If you go out and look around, the country is doing great. The hysteria is caused by the media, not Trump.
Its like playing checkers witha 2 y.o. if they win, its yay for me, you stink.... if they lose— all hell breaks lose!
I wonder if this has anything to do with the news outlet they are watching. TURN OFF THE TV, and especially CNN
The answer to their anxiety is to stop watching the news. I’ve seen it in my own family, they sit and watch CNN all day and they’ve turned negative, bitter and full of hate. I don’t watch any news, including Fox. I only watch fun, uplifting and happy stuff.
Hopefully they will take the easy way out and jump.
The tale (two years ago already?) about the Jewish guy who thought his plumber might just attack him was the best.

But that HRC had been defeated
One more American working and paying taxes + one less illegal alien working off the books, sending money home and drawing benefits = more tax revenue + less tax outgo.
Blame the media and their Democrat consorts.
Send the bills to CNN and the NY Slimes.
The democrat-controlled media has done what it wanted. It created anxiety in the minds of the insecure. They repeat the same thing: Trump is going to blow up the world, starve the children, and throw old people off the cliff.
The media is criminally responsible for all this. They should be in jail.
My TV is off at least 80% of the time. When it's on, I'm watching a movie, learning something new, finding a YouTube channel I like and that's about it.
I occasionally watch Fox News Sunday (when it's not pre-empted by something else here in the Chicago market....) for the first segment and turn it off after that.
Those are my viewing habits since the 2016 election, which is when this mass-hysteria broke out. Have to say, I feel so much better. TV really is junk food for the brain the the least amount we let our brains consume of it, the better!
