Democrats are now 'soft favorites' to take the House, according to an analysis by University of Virginia political scientist Larry Sabato and his team.
The latest periodic installment of Sabato's 'Crystal Ball' newsletter handicapping congressional the elections shifts 17 House races in the direction of Democrats.
Race-by-race rankings are moving several GOP incumbents into the tossup category. Among them are Texas Rep. John Culberson, Illinois Rep. Peter Roskam, Indiana Rep. Steve Chabot, and Iowa Rep. David Young.

How can Larry Sabato or anyone else make accurate predictions about a congressional election if they don’t know what state it’s in?
Absolutely correct. We should not simply dismiss any poll we don't like as biased, unrealistic, propaganda, etc. A win in the midterms by the Republicans is not a done deal. We need to go into November prepared to go toe to toe with the Democrats. Our biggest enemy is complacency.

I am concerned about something a bit more direct than sabotage, especially if their own polling tells them they will lose seats in both houses come September.
