Same with me. After congratulating me on the weight loss, my doc pulled the food pyramid. The food pyramid is wrong. It is carb/grain heavy!
Wow, that seems simple and I luv fresh veggies can’t get enough of them. My downfall is chips, potatoes and bread, I make my own bread, giving that up will be hard.
Losing that weight will lower blood sugar. High weight forces the pancreas to produce more insulin. Lost 55lbs low carb no more alcohol. Ac1 4.6 blood sugar 91!
I am elated by the results. Insulin resistant and pre diabetic for years until now.
It is all about controlling insulin responses to the food we eat, that is the bottom line (even if you are not diabetic).

Actually, the fat content in his stomach was 46% fat.
I’m not diabetic and am only about 5 lbs. overweight but I went on a Keto diet for 2 weeks and felt great.
I don’t know why but I HAVE to nap after lunch, it just weighs me down, and I, basically, just pass out for an hour. Some days I just eat one meal a day in the evening if I had a lot to do.
When I was on the Keto diet I never took one nap and had so much energy. I got off because we went on a 2 week vacation and plan on starting back as soon as I have a red enchilada and a green enchilada, so in a few days.
It is well worth it. Ezekiel bread is lower carb. Sugar and highly processed flour is bad.
Fiber cancels carbs. Fiber is good.

you can make your own ... but with only the following foods:
1. Meat, animal fats, cheese, heavy table cream, butter, eggs, and seafood.
2. Vegetables, but not potatoes and limit the amount of carrots.
3. Avocados, and some nuts, but not too many ...
4. Some avocado oil and olive oil ... olives themselves are OK ...
conversely:
1. nothing with any grains, beans, or potatoes
2. no fruits
3. no oils except olive and avocado
4. nothing with sugar or fructose
with spices, garlic, onions for flavor, one can make amazing dishes from the above ingredients IF one can cook ...
also, i’ve personally found alcohol can greatly slow weight loss even with the best keto diet ...

I’ll never trust conventional wisdom, dietitians, or most doctors again.
We do not have any cereals, breads, pasta, grains, starchy beans, starches/potatoes, or sweetened desserts.
We do not eat batter on fried chicken (tons of carbs), but freely eat as much of the chicken meat as we want.
At McDs, we order Grilled Chicken Southwest salads and take off the corn chips and dont use the salad dressing packet, but leave the small amount of cilantro lime glaze. We concurrently order two Double Quarter Pounders with Cheese, without the buns. That is an easy example of a massive low carb meal. We dont work out and keep losing weight.
For dessert, we eat a low carb ice cream that has no sorbitol. We prefer Enlightened, but Halo ice cream can be decent and easier to find. We also eat a lot of Jimmys Cookies Paleo Chocolate Chip Cookies from Walmarts freezer section. Ive never eaten as many nut-equivalents as I have since finding those cookies (they are made with almond flour).
This is a very easy way to eat what winds up being super healthy and satisfying.
We just bought seven 12 ounce packages of ground bison meat on sale at Kroger for $3.99 each. This, pan cooked with onions and seasoning, is a wonderful, cheaper meal that is fully grass fed. We dont seek grass fed meat a lot (costs more), but like the taste and it has more CLA fat in it, which is metabolically more active. It also has more vitamin K and Omega-3 fats (not a lot, though).
We spiralize squash and eat broccoli, cauliflower, and green beans a lot. Put all the cheese or fat on it you want to enjoy it. There a many veggies to choose from. We eat blueberries and strawberries, from fruit options.

I’m reading more about keto, getting very interested in it. I don’t need to lose weight but can imagine many other health benefits.
One of my coworkers has lost 75 pounds over about 6 months and she feels wonderful. She is happier, more focused and useful at work, as well.

Two years ago the hospital put me on insulin, and force-fed me carbs while I was there.
Once home, I threw out all the carbs, and bought red meat, chicken (with the fat on) fish and olive oil and lots of fresh non-starchy vegetables and cooked at home all the time for a while.
A month later, the doctor took me off insulin because my blood sugar readings were never over 150 (and often were lower). Now they are always under 130.
