New information suggests the 12 Thai boys trapped in a cave were medicated and carried out on stretchers during the rescue operation...
...told AFP on Wednesday that the boys were sleeping or partially-conscious as they were passed from diver-to-diver through the cave....
boys were wrapped up in stretchers already when they were being transferred while doctors posted along the 2.5-mile long escape route checked them along the way.

It is why they brought the anesthetist cave diver in. The Australian guy. It was a brilliant plan. When we hear everything that went into this we will have our jaws drop.
I would not be surprised one bit if the Aussies didn’t fly him there in the back seat of a supersonic trainer with air refuel capabilities.
US will take no credit, but you bet your ass we came up with the plan to knock em out for extraction.
I do not care how they did it. They were successful and those divers risked all to bring those boys out. Last week we lost one of those hero divers.
The concept of diving in the dark with no oxygen above at the surface as their was no surface is terrifying. Those divers were incredible. They were totally dependent on their equipment and oxygen supply. A failure of equipment was death.
One vid said an Australian diver was an anestheologist.
I heard where that Aussie doctor’s father passed away just shortly after everyone was out of the cave!
And the video linked to the article in VOX certainly seems like the Thai cave. The one on facebook posted mid thread is what I had see before, and I think is a training video.
The VOX video is pretty amazing what those folks had to work with. Even on the ground it is treacherous and slippery - so makes sense to put the kids in stretchers. I imagine their bodies were pretty weak and frail after two weeks down there!
I read the same. He passed away right after the all clear including his son. To die with that kind of pride and a sense of relief...
Yup. Simple. And no over engineered, over hyped self aggrandizing Elon Musk mini-submarine either.
It’s similar to the SpaceX “submarine” but without the enclosure.
Sedate and secure regulator well where it cant come off
Sounds like a plan for inexperienced to PADI sorts
Shell owe you some lovin
That was INCREDIBLE ....devoted rescuers!!
God Bless them all.........
They really needed to think big and more long term.
Residuals. It's all about the residuals.
>> I would have welcomed being sedated for this rescue.
Ditto.
If they were claustrophobic they wouldn’t have gone into the caves. I’m mildly claustrophobic and you couldn’t get me down there willingly.
I’m going to guess that those commentators were not Thai people. The Thai people were grateful for all the help they got — who cares of the rescuers were white, brown, black, green, purple with pink polka dots, whatever — what was important was that they saved the boys.
"He passed away [with a smile on his face] right after the all clear including his son."
It has taken almost 40 years for my wife to realize I am right most of the time.
Once or twice a year I give a wrong answer and she lets me know it.
Absolutely. The important part is that nobody turned blue.
Given a diver died during the prep work, I imagine it was a difficult process getting in and out. Last thing they would have needed was one of the boys panicking.
Didn’t spent a lot of time following as I had other things going on, but this makes perfect sense to me - be interested to see how they rigged the breathing up on the stretcher with the kids out.
