K ylie Jenner sits at a dark-wood dining table at her mother's home in Calabasas, California, flicking through display options for a forthcoming pop-up shop. The youngest member of the Kardashian-Jenner industrial complex needs to decide how to showcase products by her Kylie Cosmetics makeup company. She taps her black iPhone X with a silver glittery nail and turns the screen around to show a coterie of employees a vending machine.
"You guys, imagine this, but all in lip kits," says Jenner, dressed in a black blazer and matching black patent Louboutins with bright red soles. "I think it needs to be a clear vending machine where you see all the colors."
What her half-sister Kim Kardashian West did for booty, Jenner has done for full lips. Like Kardashian West, she has leveraged her assets to gain both fame and money. But while her sister is best-known for the former, Jenner has proved adept at the latter. In historic fashion. Just 20 when this story publishes (she'll turn 21 in August) and an extremely young mother (she had baby daughter Stormi in February), Jenner runs one of the hottest makeup companies ever. Kylie Cosmetics launched two years ago with a $29 "lip kit" consisting of a matching set of lipstick and lip liner, and has sold more than $630 million worth of makeup since, including an estimated $330 million in 2017. Even using a conservative multiple, and applying our standard 20% discount, Forbes values her company, which has since added other cosmetics like eye shadow and concealer, at nearly $800 million. Jenner owns 100% of it.

Ahem. Some guys like that in a woman.
(one in particular in my case, fortunately for me)
🤗
Wow!
Very surprised she didn’t give any equity to management...
Louboutins are the Justin Ropers of high heels...

Who was Robert Kardashian ?
OK fine, but I'm going to have trouble convincing my sister to make a sex-tape for the internet, to give me a platform.
Kendall was born with it. But Kylie is the richer.
They stole that idea from the movie "Superman III" or vice versa. Richard Pryor played a computer programmer who did that at his company, got rich and caught the attention of the bad guy who made him reprogram weather satellites to create really bad weather (yeah, it's a really dumb movie). The movie "Office Space" had a subplot about stealing that idea from Superman III to get back at the company they worked for.
OJ Simpson's Lawyer and bosom buddy.
Kardashian was the man seen carrying Simpson’s garment bag the day that Simpson flew back from Chicago. Prosecutors speculated that the bag may have contained Simpson’s bloody clothes or the murder weapon.
I was thinking of marketing pruducts this way, but mine are designer hemorrhoid creams.
That is a weakness in the plan.
Except for the lips, I think most of the difference is makeup and Photoshop.
“
she has leveraged her assets to gain both fame and money.”
Yup. She has both and she is 100% dependent on venture capitalists. Thus, her products are shallow and boring just like Kim.
I think Laz....would approve.
Laz admires me for my grammar, not my fingernails.
Same premise in the movie Office Space where the characters discuss the Superman movie plot! Lol!
“Didn’t you read the article?” she says in jest. Kylie Jenner invested her own modeling earnings as her startup funds. She is sole owner. She pays her mother a management fee, pays the Internet vendor, pays the product developer/manufacturer.
She’s not dependent on anything but the tastes of her customer base. If trout-lips go out of fashion, she can get out of the lip-color business and into some other hustle ... or live on her dividends, if she’s investing sensibly.
And it turns out that the Superman III plot was taken from a scam known as "salami slicing".
Stealing amounts so relatively small, that they add up.
