The mainstream media and the Democratic Party have gleefully counted on support from the black community for years.
Their messaging has been clear: At best, Republicans don’t care about black people, and at worst, are made up largely of racists. Unless you want to betray your race, you must vote Democrat.
So, you can imagine Democrats’ dismay at the growing movement of black Americans who are — as some have put it — leaving the Democratic plantation after waking up to the fact that the Democratic Party is bad news for African-Americans.
That brings us to Antonia Okafor. She’s a young African-American woman who voted for Barack Obama in both 2008 and 2012.
Fast forward to 2018: She’s now a gun-toting, Donald Trump-supporting conservative.
So what changed? According to her, she just acquired some good old fashioned common sense.
“I’m Antonia Okafor and I am a former two-time Obama voter and Democrat,” she said. “How does that happen? Basically common sense.”
“Realizing that the values that I grew up with, that my family instilled in me — working hard, personal responsibility, education being one of the greatest equalizers and then a gun also being one of the greatest equalizers as well,” Okafor continued. “Realizing that those things are conservative and not realizing I really was identifying as a Democrat just because I felt, as a woman, or as a black person, that I had to be.”
Okafor then explained some realizations that changed the game for her.
“That ah-ha moment for me was not too long ago. After the Obama travesty that were the 8 years, 2008 to 2016, I realized that the economy, for one, still sucks. Not like what NPR told me for all this time that we’re in a good state when it comes to the economy. And then also that for the first time in history my generation was going to do worse than my parents’ generation, the generation that came to America to make sure that their kids had a different, better life.”
“That wasn’t going to happen because of the policies that came along with this charismatic man that we so naively put into office. That I so naively put into office,” she continued.
After 8 years of Obama, Okafor was ready for a different direction.
“In 2016, I voted for Trump because he’s a Republican and he, I believe, is always going to be first and foremost someone who advocates for the Second Amendment and also for our life,” she said.
“That’s what people should be looking at. They shouldn’t just be looking at this charismatic face. They should be looking at the fact that it’s not the person in office who’s going to really directly do something to change your individual life. It’s the policies that they put forth that are really going to affect you.”
She’s absolutely right. Democrat politicians like Barack Obama are able to put on a good face for the black community, but at the end of the day, his policies did nothing to help them.
Our hats are off to this young woman for defying those who told her she had to think a certain way, and deciding to think for herself.
We’re sure she won’t regret it.
A faint glimmer of hope. She finally broke free of generational tribal thinking. Now, will the tribe ALLOW her independent thought or will she be a pariah in her own family and culture?
Imagine if Dershowitz was a Black Jew like Sammy Davis Jr.
I suspect Bozo was this woman’s first presidential vote and the point at which she started paying attention. Otherwise, where the hell has she been?
Thank Obama too. He completely backfired on the left.
He attracted a record percentage of black voters. And what did he do for them in eight years? Nothing.
And a lot of people noticed.
He was the best lesson in what identity politics gives you...fake representation of skin color without any real ideological representation of interests.

If so, usually Nigerians don't fall for the American liberal black "whoa is me" BS. Probably was shamed into following the losers in the black community, instead of thinking independently.
In the Old South, ‘Massah’ had a way of smiling when he wanted a slave to ‘bend over’ for him ...
Democrat politicians smile that same way at blacks today.
Why has it taken so long for this to be realized ?
People who are the working class are waking up...the Democrats are so left that people are #WalkingAway...

My eldest son also rediscovered the core values of his upbringing, and voted Trump in 2016, after having voted Obama in the previous two elections.
Like the young woman in this article, he had to admit to himself that Obama did nothing to help blacks, or anyone else, during those long and painful eight years.
No matter her heratige, independent thought is the worse enemy of the liberial/socialist framework. As people have an “ah-ha” moment, my smile grows larger. Had a conversation with my friend that I consider my daughter. She is a millennial liberal, but she told me that she sees more hypocrisy amongst her friends, and noticed that if her opinion was not lock step with theirs, there was no middle ground. She said she felt guilty because her views are changing more conservative. Just told her, not to feel guilty, hold onto your views and opinions, even if they change over the years, think for yourself, dont follow simply because its trendy. Dont let others make up your mind for you.
Mind you, I am the only evil, racist, Kkk loving, Gestapo jack-boot Nazi white supremacist (and whatever other label they want to associate me as) she has in her friend group. But she is turning conservative, slowly, but not by forcing it into her, by just providing an opinion based on facts and truth and letting her come to her own conclusion. Which is more personally rewarding, havin someone else force feed you, or discovering it for yourself?
NO; after you dig it up you have to drive a stake through it’s heart, then cut off it’s head and stuff it with garlic.
Otherwise “nuke it from orbit, it’s the only way to be sure”.
She also woke up about NPR.
TRUMP needs to stop funding that media outlet.

The betrayal of the #NEVERTRUMP backstabbers (Will, Kristol, Boot, et.al.) simply floors me.
It's not just that Trump is doing things that they allegedly should have been supporting. They are now advocating actively voting to put San Fran Nan back in charge of the House of Representatives and Mad Maxine in charge of the House Finance Committee. That's who they now endorse!
