The mainstream media and the Democratic Party have gleefully counted on support from the black community for years.
Their messaging has been clear: At best, Republicans don’t care about black people, and at worst, are made up largely of racists. Unless you want to betray your race, you must vote Democrat.
So, you can imagine Democrats’ dismay at the growing movement of black Americans who are — as some have put it — leaving the Democratic plantation after waking up to the fact that the Democratic Party is bad news for African-Americans.
That brings us to Antonia Okafor. She’s a young African-American woman who voted for Barack Obama in both 2008 and 2012.
Fast forward to 2018: She’s now a gun-toting, Donald Trump-supporting conservative.
So what changed? According to her, she just acquired some good old fashioned common sense.
“I’m Antonia Okafor and I am a former two-time Obama voter and Democrat,” she said. “How does that happen? Basically common sense.”
“Realizing that the values that I grew up with, that my family instilled in me — working hard, personal responsibility, education being one of the greatest equalizers and then a gun also being one of the greatest equalizers as well,” Okafor continued. “Realizing that those things are conservative and not realizing I really was identifying as a Democrat just because I felt, as a woman, or as a black person, that I had to be.”
Okafor then explained some realizations that changed the game for her.
“That ah-ha moment for me was not too long ago. After the Obama travesty that were the 8 years, 2008 to 2016, I realized that the economy, for one, still sucks. Not like what NPR told me for all this time that we’re in a good state when it comes to the economy. And then also that for the first time in history my generation was going to do worse than my parents’ generation, the generation that came to America to make sure that their kids had a different, better life.”
“That wasn’t going to happen because of the policies that came along with this charismatic man that we so naively put into office. That I so naively put into office,” she continued.
After 8 years of Obama, Okafor was ready for a different direction.
“In 2016, I voted for Trump because he’s a Republican and he, I believe, is always going to be first and foremost someone who advocates for the Second Amendment and also for our life,” she said.
“That’s what people should be looking at. They shouldn’t just be looking at this charismatic face. They should be looking at the fact that it’s not the person in office who’s going to really directly do something to change your individual life. It’s the policies that they put forth that are really going to affect you.”
She’s absolutely right. Democrat politicians like Barack Obama are able to put on a good face for the black community, but at the end of the day, his policies did nothing to help them.
Our hats are off to this young woman for defying those who told her she had to think a certain way, and deciding to think for herself.
We’re sure she won’t regret it.
Policies? No. It was pure racism, sexism and homophobia that led her to vote for Trump. Did I mention white supremacy?

The Democrat Party is designed to take care of the Party elites: professional politicians, labor bosses, self proclaimed leaders of grievance groups, and members of organized crime. The rank and file, the little guys, the clueless liberals who worship Democrats have always been screwed, yet they come back year after to support these elites. That seems to be changing. If that grows from a trickle to a torrent, then the Blue Wave will be an Anti-blue wave.
If the black community ever moves outside the jingoistic programming of PC and the media, the Democrat Party could finally die the death.
Antonia, the Republican party is not bigoted or racist but it still has a ways to go before it has solid policies that align with those of President Trump’s. But it’s getting there.

I’ve been following her on Twitter for a while.
She’s VERY PRO 2nd Amendment without a doubt.
I’ve been watching a shift to the right in the black community back to the conservative side over the last year. It’s really excellerated over the last 3 months. President Trump without a doubt has A LOT to do with this.
You know, this proves many Freepers theories over the eyars that if we had a real conservative leader that hits back the Democrats, the media, Hollywood, not afraid of P.C., pushes Pro American and conservative ideas it will work. Yet the so called experts on TV kept saying this would never work and it would be our downfall. Sure enough President Trump is proving that theory correct.
It is well known too that if the Republicans get 40% of the black vote, then this country will go all Red or Republican in elections.
If I had to guess, then I would say we are at 30% now, and it continues to slowly grow every week as Leftists meltdown.
To be clear; the black folks who believe in personal responsibility are who are waking up to the democrat plantation. Those who plan on working the system and staying on the dole will stay as long as they get free stuff.
I am glad to see this and the #walkaway movement. Better late than never. This is another thing we can thank President Trump for. The never-Trumper’s must be enraged and seeing red at this point. Especially those who refuse to admit they were wrong about him.
It wouldn’t surprise me one bit to see the never-Trumper’s voting democrat in the mid-terms just out of spite.
I hate to think what the liberals are going to do to this woman. Four very huge white men with CCLs should contact her and offer to go with her everywhere she goes.

She is welcomed into the conservative ranks with open arms (and firearms for that matter).
Love these feel good stories, as she put her “ah-ha” moment. Self awareness that the Democrats exchanged the cotton plantation for the welfare/vote plantation and pushing back against what others say she should be. Thinking outside the box for her will open many opportunities not just for herself, but also her children.
Stories like this give me hope for our Republic!
A 5% swing in black voters towards the gop is huge enough to cripple the progressive wave. If the GOP captured just 20% of the black vote, they’re out of business.

Just walk away
The night before election night I was at a Trump rally in VA. we shared our picnic with a nice young American who had come from Church and sent by his family to report back about to the rally to his extended family. I was shocked to learn he was a Republican. But what shocked me most was how eloquent he articulated conservatism. And his Disapointment of Obama.
Woked away.
And it was a Black woman with a gun who defender herself and her two children from a Black man, who has a long criminal record, when he attempted to steal her car, with her kids in it. She shot him in the face. The incident happened in Texas a few days ago.
It should be obvious it was sarcasm.
