Union and Confederate soldiers return to Gettysburg on 50th anniversary of Civil War battle that began 155 years ago tomorrow:
And they did so many times
They put their guns down and moved on
No. Only to the List Cause advocates
You dolt
They didnt say that. Projecting your animus on to something is not helpful
Some still hear the guns.
You're kidding, right?
It began on July 1, not July 2.
Exactly, well said
Why do people reenact Roman, Viking, Napoleonic era, French Indian, WWI, WWII, Vietnam. Even met some people that reenacted Mexican army circa the Alamo time frame.
At the 135th Gettysburg, they managed to assemble 12,000 Confederates to reenact Pickets Charge. It was an impressive sight.
I wrote before she pulled the post ,, so suck it up
Yes he posted it on June 30th.
I’m glad you understand what she meant, no need to act like a liberal child over it. Have a great 4th
You need to look in the mirror ,butter-cup ,bless your little heart , getting your kicks out of harassing me
Your quote"I don't know what her post was"
The first one is antietam...not gettysburg...i believe
It is. Those are the bodies of soldiers from Starks Louisiana Brigade.
The eagle Old Abe stands with the Eighth Wisconsin color guard at Big Black River Bridge, Miss., after the fall of Vicksburg in July 1863.
Living history. Since children are not taught American history in school, I think reenactments serve a great purpose.
Not unlike the *fife and drum corps* we have in NE.....living history. Good for the kids to see what it was like; perhaps spark some interest among the minds of mush. :)
A lot of those re-enactors are former US Military. Many of them have served in "real" wars, and in combat.
They know it's not a game, and they're not there to play a game. They come to Gettysburg and other sites to honor those who went before them and suffered to get their descendents where they are today.
They honour those on both sides who suffered and died to secure the right for those descendents to criticise the efforts of some to dishonour their memory.
i do NOT place you in that category FRiend, but thought your honest question deserved an honest even if blunt answer.
Still seems like Game Playing about a tragic and depressing era in our history
BTW I have military in my family and they agree with me
