Some Rite Aid stores in California have taken to blasting Barry Manilow tunes as part of a plan to make loiterers scramble.
Employees told the Wall Street Journal that the drugstore chain has been testing the tactic of playing songs by the 75-year-old crooner outside their stores — over and over, loudly — to deter panhandlers and vagrants.
But the plan has also left neighbors mystified.
“I thought some older man had died and left a Barry’s Most Depressing Hits CD on repeat,” said Lisa Masters, a professional drummer in Long Beach who couldn’t open her windows without hearing “Mandy” blaring.
“I felt trapped in an episode of ‘The Twilight Zone,’” she said.

Rite Aid would be better off playing the clip of Hillary saying “Why aren’t I 50 points ahead” on a loop. It would drive me away.
Cannot get it out of my mind since 1964 when I heard it at the Worlds Fair.
An unfortunate title, that.
LOL. Great tune. Except in those days “Two hours of pushin’ broom buys a 8 x 12 four bit room.” Nobody does that anymore.
Maybe we could play those outside the Democrat voting booths.

Nothing new. Forty years ago bookstores were playing classical music for the same reason.
Here's another one I think they should consider playing for those dallying deadbeats:

That has to be seen to be believed. Notice how the audience all kept their distance like they were watching a lunatic having a fit.
I think he started out in advertising writing jingles, and that’s why a lot of his songs sound like soft drink commercials.

That will keep the bums away.
Unfortunately, it will also keep everyone else away too.
At least it saved the world from the Martians.
