Now millennials can add bad tippers to the roster of negative stereotypes theyre associated with.
According to a new study from creditcards.com, 10% of millennials do not tip at all when eating out. In contrast, only 3% of the older generations dont tip.
Even when millennials do tip, the study found that the median gratuity is just 15%. This is under the national average, and significantly less than Gen-X, baby boomers, and the Silent Generation, all of whom leave a median tip of between 18 and 20%.
The same attitude applies to tipping those who provide services, such as Uber or Lyft drivers: 18% of millennials dont tip them, even when provided with an option to do so. Nevertheless, close to 27% of the millennials surveyed suggested that they would prefer having a service charge included in items, thereby paying higher prices, and then doing away with tips.

I tip pretty good. I don’t know about the rest of them.
When I was a child, Little old Ladies would work your *** off all day for 25c and a piece of ribbon candy.
They had no money.
My Brother cant pass up a SOB story from the old timers, Now in his late 50’s He’ll work all day for a Sambuca and a slice of Home made Lemon cake...

Well yeah, younger people have less money, no shocker.
Obviously you have never worked in a place that has Canadian dinners. According to my daughter Canadians are the worst bar none! Cheap Cheap Cheap!
No, they had plenty of money. They just didn’t brag about it. LOL
There is no point in advertising it! LOL
But Karma comes around.
We figured the old spinsters that lived together were poor as Church mice or they were lesbians. LOL
Then they die and leave $1,000,000 to their Cats.
I’ve been travelling in Korea for a while. NO TIPPING!!! So great!!!
:)
As one who makes a majority of my income through tips, I can assure you that tipping works. There is no way my co-workers or I would do this job for just minimum wage or even $15/hour. There are far easier ways to make money and I have missed plenty of my sons football games and wrestling meets because there was no one else to work. If it were just another low paying job Id quit to spend evenings and weekends with my family. I do enjoy our customers and often chat with regulars whether Im their server or not. People have told us they like our restaurant because of the warm, friendly service we provide. Perhaps thats less common than I realize, I dont often go out because Im working.
If you receive less than excellent service you are under no obligation to tip, regardless of the servers expectations.
So a black Canadian millennial is the non tipper from hell.
My daughter was a waitress and then bartender for a large place. She said the black waitresses hated black customers even more than the other waitresses because of how obnoxious and stingy they are.
When my wife and I go out to eat we sort of watch how different people tip and most minorities tip very little or not at all. We went to a Golden Coral a few years ago and I watched a Spanish speaking family get up without tipping and then remove tips from two different tables as they left.
And the standard tip nationwide is 15%, not 18 or 20. These dirtbags would just like us to believe that the floor starts at 18.
Could be if you say so. My daughter just said she has no experience as to this type.
Three of my grandkids waited tables—————great tippers.
