... How does he do it? Simple: the Big Dog takes what he wants. Trump puts his best offer on the table first, and then snatches it away at the first sign of hesitation as he did with Kim in the run-up to the summit. He has no interest in acceding to diplomatic niceties unless (as in his flattery of Kim in Singapore) they further American national interests. Best of all, he doesnt care who knows it or what they think about it.
... In short, Trudeau, the French popinjay Emmanuel Macron and the colorless Theresa May are now getting the same treatment that, so far, has helped bring Xi and Kim to the table. A pat on the head here, the back of Trumps hand there, until his opponents realize their best interests actually align with Americas and getting with the program is their best guarantee of self-preservation.
Germanys chancellor, Angela Merkel, can threaten resistance to America all she wants, but any trade wars will be nasty, brutish and short, and end with a humiliating climbdown by the European leaders. ...

Yep, that is how he operates exactly. The author is also correct about the outcome if a trade war does break out. Can you say EU losers,? I knew that you could. 8>)
For the first time since Reagan we have an Alpha Male in the WH.
What a difference it has made. We are finally respected again
And honestly, Trump is twice the alpha that Reagan was, and I loved Reagan & still do. But I have to also be honest. So far Trump has been even more successful than Reagan at this stage of their first terms. At about this point in Reagan’s first term he was doubting his supply side economic convictions because it still hadn’t had enough time to overcome the malaise that had set in from Carter’s lousy presidency.
That’s an old sales ploy. I’ve used it. My wife was a Master at it. The customer would be ready to sign the contract and she would pull it back and say “Why don’t you go to lunch and think about it.”. The customer would play tug of war with the contract.
Trump is an uber-alpha. He understands the dynamics of human behavior on an intellectual & intuitive level.
He’s got just enough vicious in him to emasculate the competition which makes him difficult to deal with.
He stripped whatever manhood Jeb Bush had right off his sorry azz in public. It was magnificent. The Bush family deserved that beatdown.
It’s called “The Takeback”. No, this car’s not for you, it’s too expensive (or whatever). Lets look at this one it’s a bit more sensible for you.
“Crack that whip”
Agreed, I love Reagan and he is easily the best president of the 20th century in my view, but Trump is on another level.
Trump is literally holding the Republic together with his bare hands at this moment, if he can succeed in driving back the deep state Marxists he will surpass Washington as the greatest president we have ever known.
Yep, and that Merkel may be out of office next week is part of the Trump effect.
After eight years of Obamanics(sluggish economy)only now are liberals worried about a downturn and the effects on th e working man.
Trump figures NOW is the perfect time to declare sanctions.
Why, you ask?
Because businesses are seeing the effect of the generous Trump tax cuts and after the foolishness of previous presidents, will facter in the costs of the retaliatory sanctions that will surly come and still come out ahead.
How will the high taxed counties of Canada, Western Europe and China react? Cut their taxes. Ha! They are so far down that road that it is inconceivable to their socialist black hearts.
Their economies will further tank while ours will only slow enough to ensure inflation won’t spook the Feds into upping rates.
Brillant!! Brillant!!
It’s a international game of chicken!

Dumb move, beyond dumb ... theres no word how dumb that is. Ive preached for decades - when you get what you want in sales, shut up, be cordial, cement good judgement on their part, enthusiasm. Then get the hell out remembering above all else to shut up.
Really fascinating perspective on his moves. Thank you.
This entirely misses the point. He starts by picking something that it turns out most voters around the world want - you know, like stopping unfettered illegal immigration. And he makes it known that's what he stands for. Then when their leadership resists, their voters start getting angry - wait a minute, we agree with Trump, not you you worthless Eurotwit.
Or trade - I doubt most Canadians think they profit much from transhiping and relabeling Chinese stuff. I suspect that they like we want genuine productive jobs.
Thank you, as well.
Just my humble observations...
Thanks to Dead for posting this.
Yes, but where are the concentration camps, Leni Riefenstahl documentaries, sieg heil salutes, etc. that the media were promising us? He hasn’t even outlawed the Democratic Party.
Clearly, the media has some ‘splaining to do.
I pinch myself cuz Trump has been near perfect in keeping his word, to the extent his powers allow.

His one weak spot (and its a big one) is immigration. He seems TOO willing to accept the tenets of the Chamber of Commerce open-borders Globalists regarding Amnesty and need for foreign workers and massive immigration. If he agrees with the current Amnesty CRAP in Congress, which he does NOT need to do, WE WILL BE FINISHED.
