Justifys emergence as the only undefeated Triple Crown champion after Seattle Slew and the 13th horse overall to complete the rare sweep went from a feel-good story to one awash in controversy on Sunday.
Queens native Mike Repole, co-owner of fourth-place Vino Rosso and last-place Noble Indy in the field of 10, hopes Belmont Park stewards will question jockey Florent Geroux about his handling of Restoring Hope, Justifys stablemate, for Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert.

Yep, when luck and skill aren’t sufficient for your ego, move to cheating.
You should watch the race.
The first horse Restoring Hope interfered with was Noble Indy. He didn't box Noble Indy in. He carried him wide enough that his jockey had to abandon his pre-race plan to contest for the early lead. The second horse Restoring Hope interfered with was Bravaso. This was on the turn entering the backstretch. Bravaso was running in the two path (i.e. just outside of Justify). Restoring Hope came over from his ridiculously wide position and crowded Bravaso into the one path. On the NBC replay, if you watch closely, you can see Florent Geroux (Restoring Hope's jockey) jerk Restoring Hope's head to the left to block Bravaso.

Thanks for the dose of sanity; all this pretentious armchair conspiracy theory-ism is getting on my nerves. The clucking hens sound like Jill Stein supporters after the Democrat Primary in ‘16, except they actually HAD been rooked. This seeming inability to distinguish between circumstantial and engineered outcomes is a disease that ruins the credibility of every entity that will play host to it, and that’s a hit Conservatives cannot afford.
sessions is on it like white on rice
“You mean an entire sport that is based on gambling may be corrupt?”
I’ll go 3-5 that you’re wrong!
Yes you and Secretariat would disagree. But that is a once in a lifetime horse who was allowed to run. Justify’s race was managed so that in the last few hundred yards, he could hold off any contenders.
That’s how jockeys “jockey” for position to maximize their own outcome. Forcing any horse out of its plan is what jockeys do to increase their own outcome. Didn’t matter for justify because he went wire to wire.
The complaining jockeys just got out-jockeyed. No one claimed a foul, so it was all the rough and tumble of jockeying.
That is a good example of why such a rule would be an improvement.
Ane there are always many more waiting in the wings.
And there are always many more waiting in the wings.
If that were only true... Tha maximum number of horses allowed in each of the Triple Crown races is 20. The Kentucky Derby had 20; the Preakness had 8; and the Belmont had 10. Not exactly banging down the door to get in or waiting in the wings.
There's one now!
No, only the Derby allows up to 20.
The others are more normal and allow only 14, which is gate capacity. Belmont is much wider than CD but sticks to the normal gate principle.
What they?
There are numerous jockey clubs all over the country with different rules. Think of states rules vs. universal federal rules. Racing has no one rule.
We still have many couples requirements. Sometimes I think it even varies from race type to type. It may be these TC and BC races withdrew that rule but you cannot say this universally either way.
No you are dead wrong. They can and do, and sometimes are required to be coupled. It depends on the jockey club.
The most common tactic using stablemates is the rabbit principle. One speedster horse is sent out to draw out another front-runner into a speed duel, hoping to wear down the star FR, while the closer stablemate reels them in late in the race.
This is as old as the hills, using teammates. But it doesnt always work.
Uh oh, Robert Mueller is coming to arrest Rarity for alleged Russian connections.
Off to jail with her.
